Charles Pinckney James (1818-1899) was an Associate Justice on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
He received a recess appointment from President Rutherford B. Hayes on July 24, 1879 and was nominated on December 1st. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 10, 1879, and received commission that same day. He retired on December 1, 1892.[1] James died on August 9, 1899.
