In Big Brother 6 (US), James entered the house as Sarah Hrejsa's boyfriend and secret partner, and attempted to lie low. An initial member of the Sovereign Six, James was betrayed by them in Week 5 after rival Friendship member Maggie Ausburn miraculously convinced then-Head of HouseholdHowie Gordon to nominate him and Sarah. Although James would win the Power of Veto, Sarah would be evicted later that week. James would ultimately choose to stay closer to the middle of the two sides of the house and forge an alliance with Ivette Corredero. A massive competition threat, James would win four different POVs during the season, breaking the record for most POV wins at the time. However, this obvious capability would ultimately lead him to getting backdoored in Week 8 by a unanimous 4-0 vote, placing 7th and becoming the third member of the jury.
In Big Brother 7 (US), James was a part of the Sovereign Six (now Season Six alliance) again during their initial continuous HOH wins, but after Janelle's decision not to nominate Chilltown member Will Kirby during Week 4, James betrayed the alliance and became a part of the Legion of Doom along with Will, Mike Malin and his closest ally Danielle Reyes. He was nominated during the first half of the Double Eviction but managed to save himself by winning the POV. He was nominated and evicted during the second round of the Double Eviction in a 3-1 vote. He once again placed 7th and became the third member of the jury.
James formerly held the record for the most Power of Veto wins with 4 in Big Brother 6 (US), but the record would be broken by his Sovereign Six ally Janelle Pierzina the following season in Big Brother 7 (US) when she won 5 Power of Veto competitions.
After the Big Brother 11 (US) finale, James, Danielle Reyes and Kaysar Ridha went into the now-empty house and filmed a special "secret eviction" video for social media, where James, in the role of HOH, cast the tiebreaking vote to evict Kaysar for a fourth time while he was next to Danielle on the block.[1]
James attended Big Brother 11 (US) houseguest Laura Crosby's wedding on April 8, 2011.[2]
James originally had a different partner for Big Brother 6 (US), however, his partner backed out last minute due to a medical problem, so James chose Sarah Hrejsa as the replacement, which likely explains the imbalance between men and women in the season.
James and Sarah Hrejsa are the first pair of houseguests to be dating when entering the house. They would later be followed by Jen Diturno and Ryan Quicksall.
Of the four, James is the only one to be on the jury and the only one to return for another season.
James is the only male to win a Power of Veto competition on Big Brother 6 (US).
James is the first houseguest to win 3 POVs in a single season and later, the first houseguest to win 4 POVs in a single season.
James is the only contestant to have an eviction vote against them nullified after it had already been cast. In future seasons, contestants who had lost their ability to vote for the week never got to cast one.
