Damage Types categorize the type of damage dealt by various sources like tools, creatures, and other items. Damage Types are not to be confused with Damage Augments; another variable that can alter the damage of a tool.
Damage dealt to a creature can be affected by their weakness or resistance to that damage type. Unarmed/Fist attacks are an exception to the damage types, as they deal True Damage. True Damage ignores all armor types and deals the same damage regardless of resistances.

Creatures can also deal special Damage Types. Some interact with certain mutations, like Fresh Defense and Spicy Safety. Creature attacks that deal Chopping damage also damages chopping nodes like grass.
Notes:
- Any unlisted creatures or creature attacks deal Generic damage, meaning it has no special effects.
- Smashing is the creature equivalent of Busting.
