1.

Give out the changes that is evident to the following people:

a) Ishaan Awasti
Ishaan changed a lot throughout this movie, be it physically, mentally, emotionally, or
socially.

The Ishaan at the start of the movie is dyslexic. He has a lot of trouble reading, writing,
calculating, and comprehending complex actions. He loves painting and having a lot of fun.
In the middle of the movie, Ishaan was still having trouble because of his dyslexia, but this
time, he became depressed. He began to distrust his teachers and his family. He doesn’t
have fun anymore and doesn’t do painting anymore.
In the later part of the movie, Ishaan had an impactful change because of Sir Ram Shankar.
Ishaan learned how to properly read and write. He understood mathematics. He learned to
be more creative. He learned how to put on his clothes, button them, tie his shoes, and do
other complex actions. And in the end, he ultimately made the best painting in their school.

We saw Ishaan grow throughout the movie. The messy and disoriented boy turned into an
incredible young man. He learned to be neat, not only to with his clothes but with his body
as well.
We went on an emotional ride. We saw Ishaan being energetic, into being depressed, and
into being high-spirited once again. We saw him grow up to be someone that can read and
write letters and numbers. And it is because of Sir Ram Shankar that Ishaan was able to
change positively.

b) Ishaan's father
He is a workaholic person that sometimes can’t pay attention to his sons.
At the scene when Sir Ram confronted them at their home, he was saddened when he
learned that Ishaan is dyslexic and didn’t want to paint anymore.
He at some point accepted Ishaan for who he is.
At the end of the movie he was put into tears of joy when he saw the changes of Ishaan.

c) Sir Sen (english teacher of Ishaan in the boarding school)

He is a very strict teacher. A harsh teacher who humiliates students that couldn't
comprehend his lessons. Saying bad things about Ishaan like: "Why are you so dumb?" "Why
can't you?!" "You're a failure!"
But in the end, he is more cheerful and gullible. He took painting as his hobby and he
became friendlier with children. We can even see at the end that he became proud of
Ishaan because he has grown so much.

2. Who helped Ishaan on adjusting through his rough time?

Sir Ram was the one that helped Ishaan through his rough time. He is the only one that noticed
the rough time that Ishaan was going through. After looking at Ishaan’s activities in school, he is
the first that noticed that Ishaan is dyslexic. It was so impactful to him that he couldn’t just stay
still, he wanted to help Ishaan. After he confronted Ishaan’s parents, he devised a lesson in
order to get Ishaan’s attention. Sir Ram taught the class about the greatest weirdos of our time
that became notable individuals. This lesson gave a morale boost to Ishaan, which opened his
locked heart. Sir Ram earned his trust and became close to Ishaan.
We can see how much Sir Ram wanted to help Ishaan, he confronted Ishaan’s family, persuade
the principal to let him personally teach Ishaan, and suggested a painting contest.
He taught him reading and writing letters, numbers, word, and phrases in English and in their
country's language. He brought Ishaan back into painting and drawing. He let Ishaan to be
creative, to think outside the box.
Sir Ram was the person that Ishaan needed in his life. Someone that can understand him,
someone that can help him. Sir Ram gave Ishaan a very powerful message,
"There have been such gems amongst us who have changed the course of the world, because
they could look at the world differently."
"Their thinking was out of the box and not everyone understood them. They were ridiculed. But
despite that, they persevere and emerged such winners that the world applauded them."

3. What are your reflections for the movie?

EVERYONE and ANYONE can change. I will always love the way humans are prone to changes. It
is a way to redeem ourselves. Sometimes, change is for the better or for worse. But I’d love to
think that most changes in life are a change for the better. We just need that one person in our
life that can push us, that can help us to become a better person.
Every child has a talent. Every child is special. They are tiny sprouts that are just starting to grow.
Putting them immediately to a harsh environment would hinder that growth. Let them be
creative, let them think outside the box, and most importantly, let them have fun.
Sometimes society and culture are harsh on children. They expect so much from them that they
can’t form their own identity. They quickly separate those that are amazing and those that are
lacking. Society can shape people negatively or positively. Unfortunately when Ishaan started
going in the boarding school, it was negative. But it was all thanks to Sir Ram that Ishaan was
able to change for the better.
I hope that everyone had that one adult in their childhood life that inspired them. I can relate to
the relationship of Ishaan and Sir Ram because I had the same type of teacher when I was at
grade 4 until grade 6. He is the teacher that made us find our own identity. He always helped us
at things that we wanted to do. He gives us continuous support and life changing advice. And
this is why I think that we only need that one person in our life that can give us the push we
need in order for us to go beyond what society expects of us. To go beyond hindrances and to
find our own identity.
I’ll end with 2 of my favorite quotes in the movie.
"Don't let anyone come in your way. Your potential is endless like the sky."
"You'll find your purpose where you find your happiness"
