Mary Kate "MK" was a camper on Total Drama Island (2023) as a member of the Frogs of Death. She returned in Total Drama Island (2024) as a member of Team Skunk Butt.
Personality
MK is a snarky and mischievous girl who has little interest in making friends. She has no qualms with making sarcastic remarks at other's expense, which can often have her come off as rude. MK is shown to be incredibly slick and crafty, and is an expert at stealing various items, such as stealing Julia's phone for her own gain. She is also very tech-savvy, as she is able to easily hack into the confession cam, something previous contestants struggled to do in the past. Because of this, she gains the distinct advantage of being able to watch other people's confessions and use it against them.
MK is a very intelligent and strategic competitor. As she states in her introduction, she is always underestimated which allows her to fly under the radar, which she uses as part of her strategy. However, she can be overconfident, such as her sarcastic taunts leading her to saying Julia’s catchphrase “butt knuckle”, unintentionally exposing herself and leading to her downfall.
Total Drama Island (2023)
MK is introduced as Mary Kate as she arrives on the boat to the island. Her audition plays, where she reveals that she believes Total Drama is not won by strength, instead having a secret talent. MK's talent is theft, and that she is always underestimated. So she is coming for that prize money with her secret talent. MK looks amazed when she sees Nichelle Ladonna.
Later, in the Frogs of Death girls cabin, we see Julia putting down some flowers as she is facing away from MK. She takes her phone, slides it into her pocket and slyly talks to Julia as if nothing had happened.
In Pirates of the Cabbagean, MK takes matters into her own hands by adjusting the confessional camera and refusing to confess. She then removes the confessional's camera cord and celebrates briefly after. MK reveals her plan to use the stolen phone from Julia to watch everyone's confessionals, later jokingly mentioning that she will skip through most of the pooping. When Wayne claims the role of team captain based on his hockey experience, MK interjects, mentioning the differences between hockey and sailing. Raj interrupts her shortly with enthusiastic support for his own hockey team. MK is shown later to be holding cabbages, and she later expresses happiness and looking proud of Wayne and Raj when their team emerges victorious.
In Drown Town Abbey, MK sarcastically responds to Damien's suggestion of rising toilet water, snarkily stating it came from the outhouse. She also refuses to kneel down for Wayne's team discussion. MK also claims she already saw Ripper's bum. A near bear attack startles MK, but she manages to escape unharmed. In a confessional, she shares her neutrality in the competition and believes that staying under the radar prevents elimination. When Julia tries to express gratitude, MK casually responds with a simple "Yup." She becomes annoyed when Nichelle hesitates to compete and skeptically questions Nichelle's action-hero status. In a separate confessional, MK questions the value of fake help after Julia imparts "goddess warrior energy" into Nichelle. MK also comments on Nichelle's fallen number, resembling the team lead in the challenge. She sarcastically responds to Nichelle's stunt complaints and confronts her lack of disclosure with anger. Emma's attempt to diffuse the situation further angers MK, leading her to shout at Nichelle. Doubting Nichelle's claims, MK frustrates Emma for not listening. As a consequence of her sarcastic remarks, MK finds herself facing elimination, prompting reflection on the impact of her sarcasm on her game.
In Numbskull Island, MK is seen chatting with the hockey bros. Wayne thought Nichelle was fierce in the movies and wondered if she had been pretending all this time. MK responded, stating that's how TV works and claiming that none of it is real. MK responds to Raj, who thinks that since Nichelle stopped an alien invasion, but since it was all fake, wonders if they're still coming. MK states that it is on TV, indicating that it is not real. Wayne then questions if being on TV means they are not real, while in a confessional, MK reflects that she enjoys playing with people's minds but acknowledges that some minds can mess with themselves.
After Raj and Wayne explain the team positions using hockey terms, MK turns to Bowie and asks if he understood any of it. Bowie admits that he didn't understand either but found it cute. MK responds with an "okay" of some sort. MK, Bowie, and the hockey bros take cover, hiding from Scary Girl who has a jackhammer. Wayne suggests they need a decoy, prompting Raj to discuss a plan for MK: "Fake left and draw Scary Girl away while the others search for the skull." MK hesitates and responds, "No thanks, jockstrap." However, Bowie insists that MK has to take one for the team and forcefully throws her into Scary Girl's path. Scary Girl menacingly declares, "Time to make some MK jam," which horrifies MK. In response, she exclaims, "Not cool, not cool!", while running away.
MK then later discovers the boathouse and takes shelter inside while Scary Girl passes by. Frustrated, MK wonders if they screen contestants at all for this show and looks at Damien. Later, MK stumbles upon the screen that controls the shields, and with a mischievous laugh, she declares to let the fun begin. MK spots Damien attempting to hide from Scary Girl and confidently says not for long before flinging him with a shield. MK comes across Scary Girl's confessional where she describes Damien's screams as delicious, leading MK to know that there's definitely no screening process to get on this show. When Millie questions if the shields are affecting them, MK responds with an evil laugh, exclaiming, "Dance, puppets, dance!". When Ripper declares, "Make way for the winner!," MK responds with laughter, saying "Winner?, Nah, more like wiener!" and hits Ripper with a shield. MK later instructs Emma to approach a tree, and with a well-aimed strike of the shield, sends her flying towards the skull. MK then tries to celebrate with her team, but they think that she didn't help at all, and Emma, who received MK's help, comes in a bit too late to thank her since their team walked away. This prompts MK to sarcastically respond to Emma, saying, "Thanks for saying that, after they left!".
In Jurassic Fart, MK mocks Chris by saying "blah blah blah," and then adds, "Just tell us how we're going to die", indicating a catch. Later, MK is shown huddled up with her team before the start of the challenge. MK takes a break from the challenge and enters the confessional booth to review the footage she has downloaded. Inside, she reveals the dramatic events or the 4-1-1, highlighting how Millie lied to Priya about her vote in the previous episode and is writing a thesis paper that exposes everyone, throwing them under the bus. MK also remarks that "Princess" Julia is not the positive yoga rainbow sunshine she pretends to be, claiming that Julia refers to everyone as "buttknuckles." Later on, when Julia roasts a raptor, MK captures the entire incident on video and shares it on Julia's MySelfieGram account. MK also hopes that the raptor is okay after that.
In Launch Back of Notre Game, as Julia enters the cafeteria where everyone is enjoying their breakfast, she demands to know who posted the video capturing her outburst at the dinosaur, while MK, appearing apprehensive, anxiously looks around without responding. No one responds, and as Julia leaves, stating that she will figure out who did it herself, MK sarcastically remarks that does this mean Julia won't be throwing their morning burritos. Later, after Raj and Wayne lose their lucky playoff beards, MK sarcastically remarks that they can't win without fake beards, but in a confessional, she reveals that she took their beards and plans to auction them off on her new website called "Things Total Drama Island Contestants Used to Own," concluding with an enthusiastic "Cha-Ching!" MK attempts to shift the blame onto her, to which Julia responds by stating that she is allergic to things that stick to bodies, and MK questions if that's another lie, similar to how Julia pretended to have a nice personality.
Later in the challenge, Julia pulls the lever too high, causing Raj to miss 3000 points. MK responds that Julia should let someone else work the catapult since she is doing horribly. Emma suggests stopping the world from spinning because she was flying, MK sarcastically responds that she would, but It would trigger massive earthquakes and tsunamis, not wanting it on her conscience. Emma celebrates too enthusiastically when Wayne gets points and ends up falling down. MK sas that's why she keeps her celebrations pocket-sized before letting out a quirky "yay" in an weird manner. During the lightning round of the challenge, MK, Bowie, and Emma discuss that they should just go for 3000 points since they already have 7000. However, Julia unexpectedly flings herself to obtain 10,000 points which leads to the Frogs losing.
Later in the cabin, MK & Julia argue about the earlier challenge, and when the argument reaches its peak, MK calls Julia "butt-knuckle," the secret word Julia had been using. This slip-up causes Julia to discover that MK had been downloading and watching everyone's confessionals. Julia later finds all the stuff MK stole from her team and the phone she used for the confessionals and shows it to her team. MK lies, denying anything having to do with the items Julia showed the team, and claims that Julia just appeared with them. MK's lies were exposed when Julia reveals that MK has been watching everyone while they were using the bathroom shocking everyone. Julia receives the final marshmallow, and she lets the anger flow through her, infuriating MK. Chris then announces, "Time for MK, drone home," to which MK sarcastically responds, "Is that some kind of pop culture reference for old people?", which makes Chris not miss her.
In The Truth, The Pole Truth and Nothing But the Truth, MK's phone which she downloaded everyone's confessionals onto is seen by Bowie. She is also thanked by Bowie for organizing everyone's confessionals into individual folders.
In Magma Cum Laude, when Caleb suggests that the wheel should be called the "Wheel of Whoever Never Got a Chance" because others found him physically intimidating, MK sarcastically remarks, "Aw, poor gorgeous you." She then cheers for Priya once she wins and celebrates alongside the rest of the cast when Chris invites them all back for a rematch.
Total Drama Island (2024)
In The Pink Painter Strikes Again, MK is the fifth person Bowie chooses to be on his team, the Skunk Butts. Despite MK's previous rivalry with Julia last season, she immediately compliments Julia, to which Julia also compliments her back. MK points out that Bowie may have picked Julia just to vote her off first. The two then decide to form an alliance. During the challenge, MK takes note about how there's an extra intern uniform available after Chris fires one. MK hops on Caleb's back, which he initially isn't aware of. He eventually notices and pulls her off his back, only for both of them to get hit by Grandma Hatchet's balloons. MK's team ends up losing the challenge. During the elimination ceremony, as Scary Girl talks about how the others may find her a little scary, MK calls her a "total freakshow." She and the others are creeped out after Scary Girl reveals she's been stalking them and vote her off.
In Taking It to the Rim Reaper, Julia and MK both anticipate Ripper and Axel being a negative duo and if dating would require a new gross disclaimer for the show. MK helps her team during the challenge, sliding, and after falling remember how much she hates the reality show. After Chase comments how he has to restart his introduction, MK recommends him to restart from birth, but he does not take this advice. After seeing Ripper naked, MK reveals she planned on donating her eyes to science but now they are ruined so she won't be able to pursue that idea anymore. After the challenge, MK sneaks around in order to find an advantage for her team. She reveals the intern uniform to the camera, and herself and Julia anticipate the Skunk Butt's luck changing.
In You Poor Saps, MK is posing as an intern at the morning production which could give the team an advantage to prevent from losing. On today's Morning Production, the challenge is about covering the members with saps. Chef stated once the challenge is over, they will have to use the desapying spray. Chef shows how much spray is in the box and MK kept an eye on all of the saps. When starting on today's challenge, MK has a shortcut that'll guarantee the win leading all of them except Ripper to the can of sap removals. After going to the shortcut, MK brings out a box of desapying spray and Julia states everyone these are sap removals MK stole from the morning production. Wayne and Raj feels like its cheating and MK proves its cheating and will give us the advantage to the win. After Wayne and Raj got tangled in the sap, MK had enough and decided to use the sap removal on them. MK and Julia decided to team and decided to sabotage the other team by making it much harder for them. At the almost end of the challenge MK and the other team decided to paint themselves with sap so Chris and Chef wouldn't get suspicious. MK got frustrated for Wayne and Raj being dumb and had to unsap both of them. At the end of the timer, MK and their team got their first win.
In Choosin' for a Bruisin', MK botches the challenge on purpose so she can sneak off to the interns' trailer and steal the correct answers for the challenge, but she decides that the best way to share them is by doing an odd and even number system where, depending on how many times she says it, is either A or B, in an attempt to allow Bowie to prevent Wayne, and especially Raj, from finding out about the cheating. Bowie takes the stand and MK feeds him the right answers all the way up until Chris starts getting suspicious around the end, so she intentionally gives Bowie the wrong answer for this reason, and he falls. In the confessional, MK says that Julia really wanted to see Bowie fall, which Julia replies that she did.
In Ice to Beat You, MK appears, asking for paper. She runs into the cabin with her team and draws the map for the maze in the challenge on Ripper's stomach. Nichelle and Damien walk in the cabin and saying they will defeat them in today's challenge. The challenge starts and Team Skunk Butt chooses the maze path. MK gives ice skates to distract the Hockey Bros from the rest of team cheating. The team goes through the maze and reach the safe where MK reveals a hairdryer she got from Chris's trailer. She melts the the safe which causes the Hockey Bros to get mad at the cheating. A fight breaks from the team with Bowie and the Hockey Bros, who are against cheating, against MK, Julia, and Ripper. Since the hairdryer was left unattended, it melts the floor and the team comes crashing down. The team encounter the yeti and ride a bobsled to the finish line, winning the challenge. At the end of the episode, MK puts the hairdryer back in Chris's trailer, but Chris sees this.
The next episode the merge happens and the remaining contestants have to pair up with another one. MK points that they are an odd number, in which Chris says that he knows and he has a special partner for MK, being a pair. He reveals that Team Skunk Butt has been cheating to the anger of Team Rat Face. MK loses the chance of immunity because she is unable to defeat the bear in a jousting match, which she claims it isn't fair.
In Fun Fight at the O'Cake Corral, MK is paired up with Axel and Ripper to make a cake that looks like Chris. Throughout the challenge, Axel and Ripper do not help MK, annoying her. MK's cake is not good in taste or appearance.
During Haulin' n' Ballin', MK and Julia notice that Zee is hiding a secret. They attempt to make Zee say the secret which he says in the end of the episode, revealing that Caleb only flirted with Priya to be in an alliance.
In Breaking Up is Hard to Do, MK does not care about Priya and Caleb, saying that nobody felt bad for her getting attacked by a bear. MK and Julia try to make Caleb join their alliance, but he refuses. MK gets Chef's car as her object. Chef is panicked and tells Chris to do something, but he responds that they can use whatever they find on the island. MK reveals that she took a mechanics class, so she knows a lot about cars. She sets the car on fire as Chris freaks out. Caleb wins immunity, and both MK and Julia they are the most likely to get eliminated. MK goes around framing Julia and lying about her. At elimination, MK and Julia are in the bottom two. In the end, Julia gets the final marshmallow, to MK's shock. Julia reveals that she told everyone that they have a secret pact. MK is impressed and tells Julia to win the million They hug and then she gets carried by the Drone of Despair.
In Soar Losers, MK is Julia's only supporter. Throughout the race, MK supports Julia while jokey mocks her throughout the challenge. When Julia reaches the second part of the challenge, crossing the high rope, Scary Girl finds her and steals the t-shirt cannon from her and knocks down Julia into the water. When Julia's hair turns into a mullet by the raptor she insulted, MK tries comforting her by still gets grossed out.
