- "The world knows her as Quake, and Quake is an outlaw who takes down banks and bridges."
"Oh, come on. We both know–"
"She's hunting violent radicals. she's tracking these fanatics, the Watchdogs, trying to take down their funding, their... their escape routes."
"Regardless, you should fuel up and get back up in the air ASAP. Find her before the military does something bad." - ―Melinda May, Alphonso Mackenzie, and Phil Coulson[src]
The Pursuit of Quake was an organized search issued by the newly legitimized peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D. for former Inhuman agent Daisy Johnson.
Background[]
Upon swaying the Inhuman Daisy Johnson, the ancient Inhuman Hive stole a nuclear warhead and intended to use it to spread a virus around Earth, threatening to turn all humans into Primitives. After Johnson was successfully released from Hive's influence, she harbored a high degree of guilt as she had hurt several of her friends while being swayed. S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to stop Hive, who had stolen Zephyr One to fulfill his plans.
A fierce battle occurred between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hive, and it soon appeared that the only way of defeating the mighty Inhuman and putting an end to his plan was putting him and his warhead into a Quinjet which would be flown into space. Johnson was ready to sacrifice herself as a way to redeem herself, believing she would fulfill Charles Hinton's prophecy, but it was ultimately her boyfriend Lincoln Campbell who assumed the role and saved everyone. Before the connection with the Quinjet was lost, Campbell declared his love for Johnson. Right after that, the Quinjet exploded, killing both Campbell and Hive.
Unable to bear the guilt and grief over Campbell's death, Johnson decided to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. and to act as a rogue vigilante who would soon be known as Quake. Despite knowing that it would be difficult, Phil Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie went to chase her, hoping to bring her back into S.H.I.E.L.D.[1]
