  9. 9.0 9.1 In The Avengers: The Avengers Initiative, Fury's language implies that Steve has already woken, the World Security Council is just unsure if he'll be accustomed enough to join the Avengers. It is therefore set anywhere between October 9, 2011 and April 30, 2012 inclusive. Halfway between these dates would be January 19, 2012. The Iron Man Dubai incident is said to be "recent", placing it around 10 days prior, roughly January 9, 2012.

  14. In Iron Man 3 Prelude, it is shown as beginning a while after Iron Man 2, with the damage from the Expo having been cleared up and Stark Tower having been fully planned, laid its foundations, and several levels into its construction. It then jumps to 2 months later, Mumbai, then 3 months later, Afghanistan, then 2 months later, Sudan, then 3 months later, Hong Kong, and this is shown to be the date of the Battle of New York, May 4, 2012. 3 months back from there would put Sudan around February 2012, 2 months further back would put Afghanistan around December 2011, 3 months further back puts Mumbai around September 2011, and a final 2 months back places the beginning in July 2011. This allows plenty of time, just over a year, for the Expo to be cleared completely and for the planning, foundations, and beginning of construction of Stark Tower. Several months prior to the beginning of the comic, work would have begun on the tower, around December 2011.

This lines up with what Natasha says in Issue 2, "They're connecting the capital to Sochi on the coast, where the Winter Olympics will be held in two years." This is referring to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, which happened from February 7-23, 2014. 2 years prior would put this scene around February 15, 2012, and therefore the comic would revolve around this in February 2012, also lining up with it being set after Iron Man 2 in 2010, before The Avengers in May 2012.

  18. In Ant-Man and the Wasp, several moments are shown from Ava Starr's past at S.H.I.E.L.D.. Hannah John-Kamen was 28.05 at the middle of filming and should not be playing Starr at an age any younger than ⅔ of her actual age, so 18.70, meaning, based on Starr's approximated date of birth (see 1980s references), that the scenes should be after April 26, 2007. One moment appears to say "01-8 Thu", suggesting it is Thursday, January 8, 2009. Evenly distributing between these two dates, the first set of scenes should be approximately September 29, 2007, March 4, 2008, and August 7, 2008, before then January 8, 2009. Then after that, the remaining scenes are between then and the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. on March 5, 2014 (see 2014 references). Evenly distributing again, the remaining scenes should be January 19, 2010, January 31, 2011, February 12, 2012, and February 22, 2013.
  19. In Code of the Streets Shades says, "I just got home [...] Three years this time, Seagate." With Shades' release dated to March 3, 2015 (see 2015 references), Shades would have been sent to prison on March 3, 2012.
  20. Luke Cage: 2.06: The Basement
  21. Secret Invasion: 1.06: Home
  22. In Home, Gravik describes his first mission in which he killed a man for Nick Fury, saying, "You know, I was young, I tried my best." Fury was shown in Promises to be hesitant to send Gravik on any missions due to his being a child, so it likely would have happened once Gravik had grown more. It can be taken that Fury would have sent Gravik when he was around the human equivalent of eighteen years old. Skrulls age at approximately 4.6 times the rate of humans. Using the age of Lucas Persaud, who played Gravik in the Promises flashback set November 15, 1997 (see 1990s references), it can be taken that Gravik was sent on his mission approximately 14.3 years after the flashback, placing the mission on March 6, 2012. The full details of the calculations may be found here.
  23. The Punisher: 2.01: Roadhouse Blues
  24. 24.0 24.1 24.2 Hawkeye: 1.06: So This Is Christmas?
  25. In So This Is Christmas?, Clint Barton tells Yelena Belova about a time he asked Natasha Romanoff if she was scared while fleeing the United States. This conversation could have occurred between Barton recruiting Romanoff to S.H.I.E.L.D. on January 1, 2008 (see 2000s references) and the last time they would get a chance to have a long conversation with each other, the Clash of the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, which occurred on June 24, 2016 (see 2016 references). This conversation can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these dates, March 28, 2012.

  31. In Paradise Lost, Lincoln Campbell discusses the car accident that led to his arrival in Afterlife. In the story, he is able to drive, which means that this has to take place after he got his full license, which in Cincinnati happens on a person's 18th birthday, meaning April 17, 2003 is the minimum date. Furthermore, this event, JT James leaving Afterlife, and Lincoln's Terrigenesis have to occur before Daisy's arrival in Afterlife on April 17, 2015, so the maximum date for Lincoln's Terregenisis is April 16, 2015. Spacing the events evenly throughout this time, and making sure Lincoln spends at least one year in Afterlife before meeting Daisy, the resulting dates are as follows:

    Car Crash: April 16, 2006
    James Leaves: April 16, 2009
    Lincoln's Terrigenesis: April 15, 2012

  36. In Deals With Our Devils, as the team discuss what could have happened to Fitz and Coulson, it is said, "Impossible things happen all the time. That machine ghosted that Lucy woman." Agent Mackenzie replies, "So what, Coulson and Fitz come back in 5 years, bloody and insane?" The implication from this is that Mackenzie has been told that Bauer spent 5 years in the box, before her release on the reasoned day of March 19, 2017.

This lines up with the release date of The Avengers (May 4, 2012) being the date of the Battle of New York, and the fact that it is months (roughly 6, works out as 7) before Iron Man 3, which picks up in December 2012. Avengers: Endgame also shows the month to be "05/2012".

With the Battle of New York playing out nonetheless the same in the new universe of Avengers: Endgame, and the 2023 Avengers making no impacts of significance until after Loki is apprehended by the Avengers, the events of the Battle of New York can be taken to play out essentially identically in that universe, as well as other events shown in the timeline that are not affected by the 2023 Avengers. Similarly, events such as Hulk smashing a Chitauri with a car or the Ancient One participating in the battle, shown only in Avengers: Endgame, are unaffected by the 2023 Avengers' actions, so can be taken to have also happened in the main universe.

It is said that they hit Allentown "5 days after the Battle of New York", making that May 9, 2012. Then Richmond "7 days after the Battle of New York", May 11, 2012. Queensbury "2 days after that", May 13, 2012. Charleston "the following afternoon", May 14, 2012. Then Pasadena, which can be estimated to May 15, 2012, and is now "yesterday morning" as of the main events of the one-shot, making the main events May 16, 2012.
The opening scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming is set in the aftermath of the Battle of New York, ideally in the first few days following it. Similarly, Loki's trial in Thor: The Dark World is shortly after. Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline places both of these events after Pollack and Weiss' time owning Item 47 (May 5-16, 2012), suggesting they should be after the midpoint of those events, May 10/11, 2012. With this being a little late, they are taken to occur on that first day after the Item 47 midpoint to be as close as possible to the ideal of just a few days after May 4th: May 11, 2012, a week after the Battle of New York.

  58. 58.0 58.1 In the Hawkeye deleted scene "Until It's Done," Eleanor Bishop is shown approaching Wilson Fisk in the aftermath of her husband's death on May 4, 2012 (see other references). Man-Bull's birth is approximated to February 1980 (see 1980s references), so he would have turned in eighteen in 1999. The experiment can be approximated to the midpoint of his eighteenth birthday and when he says the line, placing it in May 2012.

  68. 68.0 68.1 68.2 68.3 68.4 68.5 The opening credits of Never Meet Your Heroes shows a montage of events in Kate Bishop's life. These events are:
    • Eleanor Bishop giving Kate a bow and arrow
    • Eleanor watching as Kate fires and hits a target twice
    • Kate placing a picture of her and Derek on a shelf
    • Kate placing a trophy on a shelf
    • Kate firing three arrows at two targets
    • Kate eating dinner with Eleanor at a young age
    • Kate eating dinner with Eleanor while older
    • Kate firing an arrow
    • Kate achieving third place in a fencing tournament
    • Seventeen ribbons and trophies sitting on Kate's shelf
    • Eleanor placing her hand on Kate's shoulder as Kate fires an arrow
    • Kate achieving second place in a fencing tournament
    • Kate as a yellow belt fighting a black belt in karate
    • Kate losing a fencing match
    • Kate touching her opponent in a fencing tournament
    • Kate as a black belt
    • Kate doing a flip on a bar
    • Kate firing three arrows at three different targets
    • Kate making first place in a fencing tournament
    • Kate standing on a balance beam on one foot
    • Kate standing on the roof of a building on one foot and jumping onto another building
Kate is shown asking Eleanor for a bow and arrow is dated to May 9, 2012 (see other references), so her receiving the bow, which is shown to be soon after, can be taken to be the next day. Since the montage details Kate's training, it can also be understood that the first scene of Kate firing her bow and arrow is meant to be the first time she used it, placing that scene on May 10, 2012 as well.
In Never Meet Your Heroes, Eleanor says to Kate, "I still remember when you got your black belt at 15." This event is dated to December 15, 2017 (see 2017 references). It takes approximately 54 months to earn a black belt. However, in Hide and Seek, Kate says, "I, uh, started martial arts training when I was five." It must therefore be taken that she started at five, but did not take it seriously until after she decided she would protect her family in 2012. Using 54 months prior to when she earned her black belt, June 2013, as a starting point, Kate would have earned her yellow belt at the 3 month mark, in September 2013. She would have earned her orange belt, therefore ending her time as a yellow belt, that December. This fight can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these dates, October 15, 2013. The scenes preceding this scene can therefore be evenly distributed between May 10, 2012 and October 15, 2013. Similarly, the scenes that follow this scene can be evenly distributed between October 15, 2013, and the start of the present day events, December 19, 2024 (see 2024 references), while keeping events clear of events given more specific dates.
  69. In Providence, Eric Koenig tells Phil Coulson that he has been stationed at Providence "Since the Chitauri invaded New York." This would have happened following the aftermath of the battle, and can therefore be approximated to a week later, May 11th.

  73. In Beloved, Nick Fury is shown reuniting with Varra for the first time following the Battle of New York on May 4, 2012 (see other references). Fury would have spent time dealing with the aftermath of the battle. Fury is approximated to have assigned Eric Koenig to Providence base on May 11. Koenig says that he has been in Providence "Since the Chitauri invaded New York," suggesting that Fury was still in the aftermath of the battle at this point. Since this is Fury's first time seeing Varra since the battle, it can be taken that this happened the day after, May 12, 2012.

  75. In AKA Customer Service is Standing By, it is said on May 6, 2018 (see 2018 references) that Sal Blaskowski "was arrested for assault 6 years ago". This could refer to a near exact 6 years, around May 6, 2012, or a more general "2018 - 2012 = 6", so any time in 2012 (approximating with mid-2012). A weighted calculation, putting more weight on the more specific, would suggest the arrest was around May 25, 2012.
  76. Jessica Jones: 3.04: AKA Customer Service is Standing By
  77. In Gunner, Frank Castle, Sr. says his son was "barely 8 years old" when he returned from one his tours. Frank, Sr. is approximated to have done a military tour October 2006-January 2008 and another September 2013-April 2015. Frank Castle, Jr.'s approximate age would put him turning 8 somewhere between these tours, so we must approximate another another tour in between. The midpoint between is November 2010, and this tour is said to have been cut short, so likely 14 months or so instead of the usual 15 (as mentioned in Crosshairs), suggesting approximately April 2010-June 2011. With this, Frank, Sr. would have returned in June 2011, and if Frank, Jr. was "barely 8", he would have been born around June 2003. However, Lisa Castle, his older sister, was born in June 2003 (see other references), so the earliest Frank Jr. would have been born realistically is June 2004. This earliest realistic month of birth should be taken, to be as close as possible to the ideal.
This would then mean Frank, Sr.'s tour ended around June 2012, so started around April 2011.

  80. In The Bridge, it is said on the reasoned date of December 2, 2013 that Po "reappeared 18 months ago at a diner in Boston."
  81. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: 1.10: The Bridge
  82. 82.0 82.1 Through Runaways it is said that PRIDE sacrificed someone to Jonah once a year for 15 years (Fifteen: "One a year for 15 years", Hostile: "You ever notice that every year one of your young parishioners goes missing?", "Same time of year, every year", Last Rites: "One a year"), resulting in fifteen sacrifices (Fifteen: fifteen names are listed, Kingdom: "Fifteen kids have died in this room", Doomsday: "How could you murder fifteen kids?", Last Rites: "Like you killed fifteen runaways"). Fifteen annual sacrifices would amount in fact to 14 years start to finish, and with the last one in December 2017 (see 2017 references), that would make the first sacrifice around 2003.
However, there is evidence for 15 + years of sacrifices, not 14 years. In Fifteen, it is said they have taken runaways for "over 15 years". In Doomsday it is said that PRIDE has had a grip on the parents' "lives for the last 15 years". As well as this, Season 3 suggests there was in fact a further sacrifice (Smoke and Mirrors: "I only sacrificed seventeen innocent kids" (including Andre Compton, which the previous counts did not), Rite of Thunder: "She helped murder seventeen teenagers", Enter The Dreamland: "We are the seventeen"). Plus "one a year for 15 years" could be taken as "one a year, and we've been doing that for 15 years" rather than "one a year fifteen times, amounting to 15 years". So, it would seem overall that yes, the sacrifices started around 15 years before 2017, not 14. This, then, would make the first sacrifice 2002.
However, in Doomsday, a flashback to "fifteen years ago" before December 2017, set shortly after the first sacrifice. While this would align with 2002, Nico Minoru is shown to be a baby only about 3-4 months old. With Nico born around January 2001 (see other references), this would make it roughly April-May 2001. Amy Minoru is also shown to be about 2½. With Amy born around December 1998 (see 1990s references), this would make it roughly mid-2001. Given this, and the lack of flexibility to the children's ages, particularly baby Nico, then the latest this scene can be is June 2001. So, taking this latest possible time, the "fifteen years ago" must be taken to be a rounding from 16 years, and the first sacrifice, Brooks Watten, must also be moved from 2002 to June 2001. With the Metamorphosis flashback to "fifteen years ago" of the Wilders getting their house set not long before this and particularly given it is also stretched already to 16 years prior, but enough time to get Brooks Watten, it can be assumed that Watten did not undergo 6 months at the Church of Gibborim like the other Runaways, and was procured in May 2001, with the house scene set that same month.
With it said in Hostile that the sacrifices are the "same time of year, every year", it should be assumed that almost all the sacrifices were in early December, like the one on December 4, 2015 (see 2015 references) and the one on December 8, 2017 (see 2017 references), so likely the Friday closest to December 6th. With fourteen sacrifices prior to Destiny Gonzalez and not including Brooks Watten, the second sacrifice would therefore, however, be 14 years prior in December 2003, 2½ years after the first. Given Jonah deteriorates over a year, it should be taken that there were never two sacrifices more than 18 months apart. So, it may be taken that the second sacrifice was in fact December 2002, the third June 2004, and then the fourth December 2005, with the fourth to sixteenth (Gonzalez) all being annually in December from 2005 to 2017, and the first few negligible enough to be discounted in the statement of "same time of year, every year".
Fifteen names, up to and including Gonzalez, are shown in Fifteen, meaning there is a bonus sacrifice not listed on the computer somewhere between Brooks Watten and Destiny Gonzalez, making them between the second and fifteenth sacrifice, so it may be guessed that they were the eighth/ninth. To decide which, taking halfway between June 2001 and December 2017, it would have been roughly late 2009, making it closer to the eighth sacrifice than the ninth. So, it may have been taken to have been the eighth.
Therefore, overall, the sacrifices were: Brooks Watten June 2001, Adam Cooper December 6, 2002, Jamie Baxter June 8, 2004 (halfway between December 6, 2002 and December 9, 2005), Tim Bennett December 9, 2005, Xavier Marquez December 8, 2006, Karly Scolari December 7, 2007, James Braswyck December 5, 2008, unknown runaway December 4, 2009, Anthony Rocha December 3, 2010, Kim Hwang December 9, 2011, Bridget Bynum December 7, 2012, John Donahue December 6, 2013, Emily Wong December 5, 2014, Yvonne Taylor December 4, 2015, Brian Geparhart December 9, 2016, and finally Destiny Gonzalez (failed sacrifice) December 8, 2017 and Andre Compton December 11, 2017 (see 2017 references). Adam Cooper to Destiny Gonzalez would have been taken 6 months in advance.

  84. James Gunn detailed how Nathan Fillion originally had a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as actor Simon Williams, appearing on posters for films he has appeared in, on display at a film festival. The rights to make Steve Jobs were acquired 3 days after his death, and then it took 1476 days before it was released. Assuming the rights to make Tony Stark were acquired 3 days after "I am Iron Man", so May 28, 2008, the film would have come out around June 12, 2012. With most films releasing on a Friday, it may be approximated to the nearest Friday: June 15, 2012.

  88. In Tsunami, Amy Minoru says that she has known Alex Wilder fancied her sister since he was "11". With Wilder's date of birth dated to January 2001 (see 2000s references), the time when he was 11 would have been January 2012-January 2013, so we can approximate her noticing as around the midpoint of this time, July 2012.

  95. Black Widow
  96. In Black Widow, an opening montage shows several scenes of the Red Room training girls, including Natasha Romanoff, and operating through history, which is implied to be occurring after Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova were separated on September 6, 1995 (see other references) and before the beginning of the 2016 events of the movie on June 25, 2016 (see 2016 references).
The first collection of scenes is of a braid receiving a bow, a group of girls being brainwashed by cartoons, and a group of girls ice skating. In the ice skating scene, the girls appear to be roughly middle school age, and can be taken to be approximately 12.5 years old. This scene can therefore be approximated to when Romanoff was 12.5 years old, so approximately June 3, 1997. The scenes with the braid and the cartoons can therefore be distributed between Romanoff and Belova being separated and the ice skating scene, so on April 7, 1996 and November 8, 1996, respectively.
The montage also features two shots of girls marching, one of which is when they are roughly middle school age and can be taken to be approximately 13 years old, so on December 3, 1997.
The second shot of girls marching, two shots of girls preparing weapons, a group of soldiers in a drum line, and Dreykov watching a group of girls fire at targets occur in the movie when the girls are roughly high school age. Similarly, Black Widow Prelude features a scene of a group of high school age girls doing ballet and one of Romanoff firing at a target. These can be distributed throughout the years in which Romanoff was 14 through 18 years old, placing the comic firing scene on September 19, 1998, the second marching shot on April 1, 1999, the first shot of girls preparing weapons on November 16, 1999, the ballet scene on February 13, 2001, the drum line on September 30, 2001, and the second shot of girls preparing weapons on May 16, 2002.
Two scenes, one from Black Widow Prelude, and several flashback scenes from Avengers: Age of Ultron, both featuring Romanoff being nervous for her graduation ceremony, can be placed near the ceremony. The ceremony itself can be taken to be when Romanoff was 21, analogous to a college graduation, so May 27, 2005. Similarly, Black Widow has two scenes in which the girls are in their early twenties: one of a group of girls doing ballet, and one of a girl doing gymnastics. These scenes can be distributed between January 1, 2003, the year Romanoff turned 20, and May 27, 2005, approximately when she would graduate. This would place the Black Widow ballet scene on May 6, 2003, the gymnastics scene on September 8, 2003, the Avengers: Age of Ultron ballet flashback on May 15, 2004, the scene of Romanoff pretending to lose on September 17, 2004, Romanoff shooting on January 20, 2005.
The montage in Black Widow then features several members of the Black Widows being spotted throughout the world, starting with Romanoff, as well as shots of a Widow putting on a Widow's Bite and a belt, and a group of Widows lining up. These scenes can be placed between the graduation and the 2016 events in Morocco on June 18, 2016 (see 2016 references), while ensuring that Romanoff's scene is before January 1, 2008, when she defected from the Red Room and joined S.H.I.E.L.D. (see 2000s references). This would place Romanoff's scene on December 25, 2006, and the rest on July 24, 2008, February 21, 2010, September 21, 2011, and April 20, 2013. A scene in this montage which is attached to this last scene can then be placed to the last day, April 20, 2013. The scene with the Widow putting on her belt and accessory, as well as the Widows marching, can then be placed on November 18, 2014.
Three scenes from the montage feature Dreykov influencing two political events, as well as a shot of him watching his monitors. The two scenes of him influencing political events must be before Dreykov is thought dead in January 2008, and can therefore be distributed between then and Romanoff and Belova being separated. This places the first scene on October 14, 1999 and the second on November 22, 2003.
Two events are mentioned to have happened during this period of time in The Avengers: Romanoff killing people in São Paulo and another instance of her setting a hospital on fire. These can be distributed between Romanoff's graduation and her defection, and can therefore be placed on April 8, 2006 and February 18, 2007, respectively. The Avengers Prelude: Black Widow Strikes describes an incident involving Romanoff which is described as having occurred "long before [Romanoff] defected to S.H.I.E.L.D.." This can therefore be taken to have happened within the first half of the time between graduation and defection, so on approximately January 19, 2006.
Black Widow Prelude features a scene of Romanoff looking over New York City after joining S.H.I.E.L.D.. This would likely occur within a month of Romanoff joining S.H.I.E.L.D., so in approximately February 2008.
The montage goes on to feature several clips of Melina Vostokoff's experiments being conducted, beginning with someone reading the information which Alexei Shostakov had stolen, a scene of pigs being studied, and a failed surgery. Later in the movie, Belova mentions that Romanoff was not subject to Vostokoff's chemical mind control, meaning that the experiment was completed after Romanoff defected and before the events in Morocco, so on approximately April 9, 2012. The person reading the stolen information can be approximated to the day after it was received, so September 6, 1995. The remaining scenes can be distributed between then and the completion of the experiment, placing the pigs on December 22, 2003 and the failed surgery on February 14, 2008.
Finally, a group of scenes of war and a scene of a person sewing a Black Widow logo onto a piece of cloth are shown. These can be distributed throughout Romanoff and Belova being separated and the first scene and the events in Morocco, resulting in each conflict happening on July 26, 1997, June 16, 1999, May 6, 2001, March 27, 2003, February 14, 2005, January 5, 2007, November 25, 2008, October 16, 2010, and September 5, 2012, and the sewing scene on July 27, 2014.
  97. Ms. Marvel: 1.01: Generation Why
  98. In Generation Why and No Normal, Coles Academic High School is shown to have won several volleyball championships in various years. Volleyball championships in New Jersey tend to happen in October, so they can be approximated to October of each year.

  103. Roger Browning's S.H.I.E.L.D. ID card
  104. Secret Invasion: 1.05: Harvest
  105. In Harvest, Varra says that she attended a viewing for her home "With Fury in mind" "15 years ago." This suggests that she and Nick Fury were not yet married by the viewing on October 20, 2011 (see 2011 references). In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Fury reveals to Steve Rogers that he is married on March 2, 2014 (see 2014 references). Fury and Varra's wedding and honeymoon can therefore be approximated to the midpoint of these dates, December 2012.
