Claire Paddle (クレア・パドル ) is a minor supporting character in Macross Δ and its theatrical adaptation, Macross Δ Movie: Passionate Walküre. Currently retired, she was the one of the original members of Walküre.
Personality & Character
Spirited and long-suffering are two words that can best describe Claire. The role she played in Walküre was a significant one, but her endurance eventually reached the breaking point.
Skills And Abilities
Claire's voice has excellent range and also has the same fold receptor bio-wave effect as the rest, but the full extent of her active receptor ratio is unknown. It may presumably be the same as the other members or slightly above average.
History
Following a public audition in 2064, Claire Paddle was scouted as a member of a tactical sound unit that Chaos was organizing alongside Lydie LeGrand and Makina Nakajima. Since the unit was supposed to perform at the center of a battlefield, all members were subjected to intensive survival training in between performance lessons.
For her part, Claire persevered despite problems within the group, particularly the arguments between Reina and Makina. She tried her best to encourage the disheartened Lydie to keep it up, but her efforts were for naught as the latter quits midway through.
A year later, the Tactical Sound Unit Walküre was officially formed. Unfortunately, all of their performances ended in complete failure.
In order to keep the group afloat amid the looming threat of being disbanded by one of Chaos' backers, Claire went along with Makina's idea of wearing idol costumes instead of the standard combat uniform. This adjustment coupled by Delta Flight's cooperation soon led to a string of successful shows.
Though Walküre's fame was increasing at a steady pace, Claire's enduring will was already spread too thin from the stress of performing in dangerous areas, leading to a complete emotional breakdown. She later left the group and was replaced by Mikumo Guynemer afterward.[1]
