D.D.Ivanov (D.D.イワノフ Dī Dī Iwanofu, or Daisy Ivanov as he is affectionately known by his friends and comrades), also known as Instructor Ivanov and whose callsign is Schwalbe Un, is an ace pilot for the Anti-U.N. Forces and one of the antagonists in the Macross Zero OVA. He was the former instructor of Roy Focker that lead a squadron of experimental SV-51α variable fighters alongside his wingmate, Nora Polyansky during the Unification Wars.
Personality & Character[]
A ruthless and calculating individual, Ivanov had grown disillusioned of the United Nations Military and joined the Anti-U.N. Forces during the Unification Wars. He shows little care for human life and only has affections for his partner, Nora Polyansky. He adopted the name "Daisy Ivanov" because of the yellow flower mark on his SV-51α.
History[]
Ivanov was once a soldier prior to the Unification Wars, and was Roy Focker's instructor during the variable fighter test pilot program. Ivanov eventually defected to the Anti-U.N. Forces and in 2008, he and his partner, Nora Polyansky led an assault against U.N. Military forces on a peaceful Mayan Island. Using an Auerstädt submarine aircraft carrier as their staging ground, their objective was to retrieve a mysterious alien artifact known as the "AFOS" or "Bird Human", that may have had ties to the "Human Protoculture Intervention" hypothesis proposed by Dr. Hasford.
Ivanov encountered his former student Focker several times, including a daring assault against the CVN-99 Asuka II and the U.N. Navy fleet. During the final battle, Ivanov fought with Nora, and was ultimately killed by the resurrected "Bird Human".

- Roy Focker
- Roy was D.D.'s former flight student during his test pilot days at UN Spacy. He still treats him like a rookie even now when they're at each other's throats on opposite sides.
- Nora Polyansky
- Wingmate and lover. They often show public displays of affection in the submarine hangar but when in the cockpit of their respective SV-51γs, they are a force to be reckoned with.

- The nickname "Daisy" came from a yellow flower marking that D.D. always has on his units.
- D.D. appears by name only in the Macross Ace Frontier video game. He has no cut-in graphic nor voiced lines.
