Jonathan Caro’s review published on Letterboxd:
Mad Max: Fury Road still rocks! I did not see a single thing wrong or a single scene wasted (no pun intended) as Max (Tom Hardy) is taken to the Citadel run by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and is used as a blood bag. Meanwhile, his loyal lieutenant, Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is sent in the War Rig to trade produce for petrol and ammunition with some War Boys. But, Joe's five wives go missing and leads his army in pursuit of Furiosa who goes off course to her destination: The Green Place. One of the war boys, Nux (Nicholas Hoult), goes with them and uses Max as his blood bag as he is still in recovery.
Director George Miller still made one of the best action movies ever made that creates just enough information for who these people are, what is the condition of the wasteland and the reasoning behind the five wives leaving Joe. It is concise and while is a chase throughout the movie, Miller offers sensational visual and visceral action sequences like someone's dreams came to life. There are certain stunts and moments that made my mouth agape and ask: "How did he and his crew do that?"
Hardy acts mostly with his eyes and facial expressions whereas Theron is in the driver's seat, literally, for most of the movie as she conveys a multitude of emotions that you root for her and becomes one of the most bad-ass heroes, male or female, on screen. And, Hoult, I think, is underrated as a war boy wanting to redeem himself but sees some hope left in the group of ladies wanting to gain freedom and peace.
Mad Max: Fury Road is supreme entertainment. It is still one of the best movies of the decade.
