I’ve been eager to revisit this after Killers of the Flower Moon. Being only a few minutes longer, it’s interesting to see how Marty utilizes each film’s length and to what purpose.
Killers spends every available minute immersing you into a time and place that’s been both overlooked and underserved before now, using its final minutes to reckon with its own role in the tragedy-to-entertainment cycle. Irishman puts a character’s glory days and shopping of their own casket 50 years later…

Didn’t vibe with it. Natalie Portman can do no wrong though!

There’s really no point trying to compare this to his past work in the better/worse context. That Miyazaki is this deep into his creative output and still able to whip up a dozen awe-inspiring and indelible visual moments speaks to his mastery of the art form. Truly the great image-maker of our time.

When Chuck came back, someone had to explain Bill Clinton and the cigar to him. That would have been a funny scene.

I’ve been waiting to see what movie takes the baton from The Truman Show in attempting to contextualise the hurricane of stuff we’ve been swept up into thanks to the Internet age…. I guess it’s this?
I’m an enormous idiot and always will be when it comes to themes and subtext, so while I’m sure this has A Lot To Say I just had a great time experiencing this concept evolve, and Cage’s manic energy (there are about 30 incredible line…

Bob Altman hangs on a wide shot for over two hours, and the film never changes its pace or tone, which makes the movie feel like you’re going around in circles. A weird one!

Stunning in its simplicity, an aesthetic dream, a real deal Christmas classic.
Not much more I could have ever asked for.

The best compliments I can give this are that it had a literary rhythm, tone and feel which I loved, and Jacob Elordi has a singular magnetism on screen that we haven’t seen in a really long time.
No sophomore slump for Emerald! Keep making cool shit!

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Of all the possibilities that could be chosen to power a supernatural death mask, Tommy Lee Wallace picks Stongehenge. The 1980s were a magical and exciting time.

Good luck with your wordle.
What else is there to say? The king has returned.

Might not ever get over that Falcone reveal and how clunky and lame it is in a movie that is otherwise perfect.
Part II soon, please!

Brutal in nearly every sense of the word.
Sandra Hüller’s face when she hears the song again, that’s acting, folks.
I was impressed with the narrative choices made here; all the more so by the way this just refuses to give a wink or a nudge to the truth, that final testimony serving as the ultimate “we’re giving you what you want, but are we really?” ending I just lap up every single time.
Great movie house tho, I bet Samuel would have done some incredible things with that attic. RIP.
