The Imponte DF8-90 is a four-door sedan appearing in Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Description[]

Grand Theft Auto VI[]

The DF8-90 appeared twice in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks. In one clip, the car is seen parked up in a yard in Vice City.[1] In the other clip, the rear of the car can briefly be seen during testing of the game's Weapon Wheel.[2]

Influence[]

The DF8-90 seems to be rather unique in design, but as a midsize Imponte sedan, generally represents the Pontiac G6 (general silhouette and the bottom of the front clip) and the 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am (the greenhouse/roof and shape of the back doors). The way the top of the quarter panels slope down into the bumper resembles the 2003-2005 Pontiac Sunfire and the headlights vaguely resemble a mix of the 2006-2011 Honda Civic and 2003-2007 Saturn Ion Coupe (which also had an option for a different colored roof). The rear end is somewhat anachronistic, with a much squarer design than the front end, seemingly inspired by the 1990-1996 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan and 1992-1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88. The black-painted roof could be inspired by the Eagle Talon or Subaru SVX. The dashboard features red lighting, a Pontiac trademark.

Design[]

Grand Theft Auto IV[]

Despite its near similar design, the DF8-90 is available in three different variants, all with the same body, range of body colors, and handling. Each one is identifiable by the presence of a spoiler or the type of spoilers used, and their badges on the trunk lid:

  • The first one is the standard, spoiler-less version of the car.
  • The second one is the "V6 Sport" version, featuring a small spoiler with its edges pointing downwards.
  • The third one is the "V8 Turbo" version, having a slightly sportier spoiler with its edges pointing towards either sides of the car. This version also incorporates an "Imponte Racing" badge. This variant shares its spoiler with that on the Primo V8 supercharged variant.

The DF8-90 is equipped with a GPS system with a female voice, but only if the player leaves the "selected cars" (default) option in the audio menu.

The car shares its interior with the Feroci and Intruder.

Grand Theft Auto VI[]

As seen in the September 2022 leaks, the DF8-90's design in GTA VI is largely similar to its GTA IV design. The model appears to be the "V8 Turbo" variant of the car, as seen from its curved rear spoiler; however, it lacks the V8 Turbo badging on the rear of the car. Several changes have also been made to the car's rim design, wing mirrors and side trim. The car's pillars, side trim, and door handles have been painted to match the body color as opposed to black plastic on the original model, though the black roof remains. The DF8-90 also gains larger wing mirrors and a new set of chrome 8-spoke wheels.

Performance[]

Grand Theft Auto IV[]

Acceleration is respectable and is among the best in its class (RWD 4-door sedans). The high-output engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox with a smooth powerband gives the DF8-90 a high top speed. The powerful engines on all models make this car easy to slide/oversteer, and as a result can drift and powerslide very easily while being controllable.

Handling wise, although it sacrifices ride, it makes up for it by being very good with avoidance maneuvers and scores above average, not far in top speed to far more expensive vehicles. Accident deformation is good, considering its rather sporty nature, but it is not the best. The cabin holds up well and the same goes for the roof. The DF8-90 can sustain multiple frontal impacts before becoming immobilized or catching fire.

The Stevie's Car Thefts DF8-90 in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Stevie's Car Thefts variant A unique DF8-90 is requested by Stevie in Grand Theft Auto IV. It features a unique light blue paintjob, but may appear in the form of any of the car's three variants. This particular vehicle can be found parked underneath the Hove Beach Station station in Broker. As a new DF8-90 will respawn at the same spot until the player delivers one to S&M Auto Sales, the player can save one at a safehouse before delivering another.
