The Dundreary Admiral is a four-door sedan appearing in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
The car also appeared in the 3D Universe where it assumed the design of a mid-size saloon.
Influence[]
Grand Theft Auto IV[]
In Grand Theft Auto IV, the Admiral sports a completely different design compared to its 3D Universe rendition. It is now characterized as an American full-size luxury sedan largely based on Ford Panther platform sedans of the 2000s. The vehicle bears a strong resemblance to the 2003–2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, while also drawing significant inspiration from the third-generation 1998–2002 Lincoln Town Car, particularly evident in the C-pillar, roofline, side profile, and the flatter bumper profile. The vehicle also incorporates elements from the corporate siblings of the Grand Marquis and Town Car, the second-generation Ford Crown Victoria, which is noticeable in the lower grille of the front bumper. Additionally, the grille and bonnet might take cues from the eighth-generation Cadillac de Ville. The Admiral also subtly integrates Japanese and German styling influences. The rear end is largely shaped by the Toyota Corona Premio (AT210), though it features more angular tail lights that are split and include a badge on the reverse light, reminiscent of the sixth-generation Buick Riviera. There are also minor design details from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W202), particularly in the indicator, which has a texture similar to that of Mercedes-Benz models from the late 1980s to early 1990s.
The Admiral is equipped with a GPS system with a male voice, but only if the player leaves the "selected cars" (default) option in the audio menu.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the design of the car depends on the platform:
- In the Nintendo DS version, The Admiral resembles a Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W210), and as such it can be considered as a predecessor to the Schafter.
- In the PlayStation Portable version, the car appears closer to the GTA IV rendition than the DS version was, although significantly blockier in look and still retaining a major Mercedes influence in its design.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto IV[]
In GTA IV, it is powered by what appears to be a large V8 engine, with a RWD configuration coupled to a 5-speed transmission. Acceleration is average and handling is as to be expected; the sheer weight and the comfort-oriented suspension does have its disadvantages. Despite this, the Admiral has decent ground clearance and a wider stance, allowing it to sort out rough surfaces better than most cars in its class. Additionally, the top speed is rather impressive for its type, although it takes a long time to stop the heavy saloon completely after letting off the throttle. However, the car is very resilient to crashes thanks to its bulky construction, and the weight is also useful for ramming other vehicles off the road. This, in addition to its high top speed make it a good vehicle for getaways and pursuits.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
In GTA Chinatown Wars, the Admiral retains the performance from GTA IV. The Triad variant sports upgraded acceleration and top speed as well as a smoother engine sound and a different horn from the base model.

Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
- It is one of the three cars that can be seen in 3D (Evidence Dash) along with the Enforcer (The Offshore Offload) and the Ammu-Nation Yankee. Its license plate is 488 BNZ.
Grand Theft Auto IV[]
- In the second Bernie Crane mission known as Union Drive, the Admiral will meet his standards as an "awful and intimidating" vehicle.
- The Admiral features a hood ornament of the Dundreary corporate badge. This reflects the fact that the Admiral is based on the Grand Marquis, as the LS trim of the latter offered a Limited Edition version from 2003 to 2005, of which one of the features was a Mercury emblem hood ornament.
