- References are made to a war between the United States and Australia. It is first referenced in Grand Theft Auto III when a caller to Chatterbox FM, Colonel James P., talks about his experience in the war, but host Lazlow Jones claims he has never heard of the war. References appear in later GTA games, usually in Ammu-Nation commercials and radio advertisements. It is implied that Australia lost the war, because the San Andreas Ammu-Nation radio promotions mention weapons "from when we whooped Australia's ass."
- In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a WCTR news report says that the government claims the recent earthquake was caused by Australia, which scientists claim is not true.
- In Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories a brand of toilet paper known as Koala is advertised on the radio and also mentions that it "sends Australia a message".
- A pedestrian in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas speaks with an exaggerated Australian accent.
- The Speeder is based on a Haines Signature 1700S.

- The HD Universe continues the references to the Australian-American War. A commercial for Babies Overnight adoption service mentions "...an Australian baby that will love to play Army but always lose."
- The "Miles Traveled" statistic in Grand Theft Auto IV can display "Liberty City to Australia" to demonstrate how many miles the player travels during the game.
- The Didgeridoo, a wind instrument developed by Aboriginal peoples of Australia, is mentioned on www.ilovetoblow.org.
- During Conspire on WKTT, a woman mentions she has been around the world, except for Australia because it's "fucked".
- The Angels of Death Motorcycle Club are known to have chapters in Australia.
