The Republic of Azerbaijan, more commonly known simply as Azerbaijan is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Formerly part of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan is bordered by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia and Turkey (via the exclave of Nakhchivan) to the west, and Iran to the south.
