Stephanie Cummings (Republican Party) was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 74. Cummings assumed office in 2017. Cummings left office on January 6, 2021.
Cummings (Republican Party, Independent Party) ran for re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent District 74. Cummings lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Stephanie Cummings graduated from Sacred Heart High School before attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield where she received a political science degree. In 2012 she graduated with a J.D. from the Quinnipiac University School of Law with concentrations in tax law and civil advocacy. After law school Rep. Cummings became a law clerk and later worked as an attorney in both Farmington and Waterbury. In 2019 she joined Waterbury's Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP. From 2013 to 2017 Cummings served as a Waterbury Alderwoman, and has been a part of the Connecticut Young Republicans, the Waterbury Republican Town Committee, the East Mountain Neighborhood Association, the East End Community Club, and the Bouley Manor Neighborhood Association, among other organizations. She was a featured TEDx speaker at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in October 2014 for her talk “Paying It Forward with a Book” detailing her volunteer work collecting used books for Waterbury children.
Representative Cummings was first elected to represent the 74th district of Waterbury’s East End and East Mountain neighborhood in 2016. She was re-elected to this seat in 2018. In 2019, she was appointed as Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee by House Republican Leader Rep. Themis Klarides. Rep. Cummings has also served on the Judiciary Committee and the Children's Committee.[1]
