Cook's professional experience includes working as a substitute teacher with Torrington Public Schools and Torrington Child Care, and as a Consultant with Recall Quality Assurance.

She is a Committee Member with the Torrington Early Childhood Collaborative, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, Parent Teacher Organization Council Chair, and Member of the Board of Directors of Torrington Twisters.[1]

Elections for the Connecticut House of Representatives consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Incumbent Michelle L. Cook was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Daniel T. Farley was unopposed in the Republican primary. Cook defeated Farley and Don V. Alexander (nonpartisan) in the general election.[4][5]

On November 4, 2008, Cook won election to the Connecticut House of Representatives from Connecticut's 65th District, defeating Anne Ruwet (R). Cook received 4,945 votes in the election while Ruwet received 3,853 votes.[9] Cook raised $37,588 for her campaign; Ruwet raised $24,293.[10]
