Gary Turco (Democratic Party) is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 27. He assumed office in 2019. His current term ends on January 6, 2027.
Turco (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) ran for re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent District 27. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Gary Turco received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Sacred Heart University and a master’s degree in communication from Central Connecticut State University. Turco has managed the business development of digital technology start-ups, worked for a nonprofit university and was a policy analyst for the state legislature. As of September 2019, he had most recently spent time as an early childhood education teacher in Uganda, Africa. He was a member of the Town of Newington’s Economic Development Commission and Town Plan and Zoning Commission. [1]

|Gary Turco is serving his first term as State Representative in the Connecticut General Assembly proudly serving Newington's 27th District. He currently serves as vice-chair of the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, an assistant majority leader, and as a member of the Children and Insurance and Real Estate committees.
He is proud that in his first-term he was able to secure millions in additional state dollars for Newington, expand state income tax exemptions on social security and pensions for seniors, protect additional land on Cedar Mountain, and create a new law mandating ultrasound coverage for women with dense breast to help detect and prevent cancer.
He has received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Sacred Heart University and a master's degree in Communication from Central Connecticut State University.
Gary is devoted to helping improve the quality of life for all of Newington's residents. His focus in the legislature is on creating more economic opportunities and higher paying job within the region, increasing the affordability and access to higher education and workforce training opportunities and reducing the cost of living for our families and seniors.
- Gary is running for re-election so he can continue to be a leader in generating greater economic opportunities, reducing the cost of living, and improving the quality of life for all Newington residents.
- Gary knows the success of our state will depend on our local small and large businesses and workforce growing and thriving once again. We will need to provide support, training, and help expand opportunities for all.
- Gary will work to end all discrimination and ensure equal civil rights, liberties, and protections for all people regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, or religion, as well as, protecting women's reproductive rights.
Preparing Connecticut's health care industry, first responders, educational system, business community, and government agencies to better handle potential future crises such as a virus, natural disaster, or economic recession.
Rebuilding Connecticut's economy and getting everyone affected by COVID-19 back to work as quickly as possible.
Investing in our children's schools starting with Pre-K, continuing to make college more affordable, reducing student loan debt, and expanding workforce development programs.
Ensuring the success of small businesses, and working with our large corporate partners to help invest in, grow and create new jobs and opportunities for our residents.
Expanding the "Green New Deal" by supporting and investing in alternative clean energy sources, such as wind and solar power, that are good for our health, environment, and economy.
Promoting responsible and strategic development of mass transit, including working to secure a Newington train stop, to provide tax revenue and jobs that support the vibrant communities we live, work and play in.
Improving our health care system so it provides better health care to every resident in Connecticut that is more affordable and accessible, especially with lower cost prescription drugs.
Advancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of State Government through the use of modern technology.
