What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Equal Educational Opportunity, Health Care Access for All, Up grade transportation infrastructure.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Education because it makes society a better place when everyone is educated. Health Care because the healthier people are the more they can focus on making their lives and our civilization a better place for all.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
Ruth Bader Ginsberg
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
I'm in politics to protect against having a society like Orwell's 1984.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The office is about the people you represent.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I have years of experience in state and local government. During my time in office I have had positive results for my efforts.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Understand how everything works. We live in complete times. Policies can have unintended consequences. The more you know the less likely it will be that the vote you make won't surprise you once it is implemented.
What legacy would you like to leave?
I'm just a cog in the wheel of government. If remembered I would like people to realize I was there for them.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
My father served in the Pacific during WW11. He died from exposure to atomic bomb testing at the age of 33.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I want to be me!
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
I like the district I represent because of its diversity.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
The "Happy"song.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Life is a struggle.
Every state besides Nebraska has two legislative chambers. What do you consider the most important differences between the legislative chambers in your state?
Connecticut is very small and diverse economically. The House can focus on the difference between the extremely rich and poor. The senate has more districts that include the richest areas.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
Yes
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
Equal education opportunity.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?
Everyone must communicate and work together.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
Yes!
What process do you favor for redistricting?
One person one vote. In Connecticut we have a bipartisan committee that addressed reapportionment. Everyone should use our system.
If you are a current legislator, what appealed to you about your current committees?
I'm on Insurance and Real Estate, Appropriations, Education, Regulations Review and numerous Oversight committed on health care.
If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the legislature, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?
I am part of Leadership.
Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
There are good things about many different legislators. Getting to know everyone is important.
Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?
No
Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
I'm in a very poor district in CT. Many of my constituents fight for survival every day. They are heroic.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
