Joe Polletta (Republican Party) is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 68. He assumed office on May 1, 2017. His current term ends on January 6, 2027.
Polletta (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent District 68. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Joe Polletta attended Fairfield University where he earned a political science degree. His post-graduation endeavors include owning a local small business, serving on the Watertown Town Council, coaching a local baseball team, and joining both Crimestoppers and Cercemaggiore Community Club.
Polletta was first elected to represent the 68th Assembly District in a 2017 special election. In 2018 he was re-elected to this district, representing Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury. Polletta has served on the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, the Banking Committee, and the Housing Committee. Moreover, after the 2018 election he was selected to serve as Ranking Member of the Labor Committee.[1]
In 2014, Polletta was Democratic candidate for the District 68 seat. Polletta switched party affiliations in 2015. He said, "My beliefs align more closely with conservative beliefs. I was welcomed into the Republican Party and worked on the campaigns of Rob Kane and Eric Berthel."[2]

The seat became vacant following Eric C. Berthel's (R) election to the Connecticut State Senate on February 28, 2017.
Candidates who filed for the race included Democrat Louis Esposito and Republican Joe Polletta.
Polletta defeated Esposito in the April 25 election.

Elections for the Connecticut House of Representatives consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Joe Polletta was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Eric C. Berthel was unopposed in the Republican primary. Berthel defeated Polletta in the general election.[4][5]
