|I am a Christian, wife, and mother. I have been married to my husband, Keith, for almost 21 years and we have a daughter, 19, and a son, 16. I am a speech-language pathologist, earning my bachelors and masters degrees from Marshall University. I am a former twice elected school board member, resigning from the position to run for WV State Senate.
- I am a true conservative republican. I am pro life, pro 2nd amendment, pro law enforcement, and pro coal. I stand firm for family values and believe parents should be very involved in their children's education. We must stand up for our conservative values and fight to maintain the America that our founding fathers worked so hard to establish.
- I will be a true voice for District 6 in WV. As a school board member, I worked diligently for the people I represented and will do the same in Charleston. Being a senator is a job of service and it's not one I will take lightly. If elected, I will work with leaders and constituents throughout the district to improve our area all of the time--not just at election time. Simply put, I will work for you.
- As West Virginians, we must work together to make our state better for our citizens. We must be willing to listen to others. We will not always agree, but we always need to listen. We represent people from all walks of life and we must be willing to help everyone.
I am passionate about policies that improve WV for West Virginians. We need to work to make life better for our citizens. We have to work to make our state an area that people will stay in when they grow up. We must continue to work to make our state an area where people want to move and raise their families. We have an amazing, beautiful state and we must continuously work to improve it. Policies that improve life for our citizens is where my heart is. We must all work together to accomplish great things.
I have always looked up to my grandparents. Throughout their lives and marriage, they taught us to love fiercely and help others whenever we have the opportunity. So much of what I learned from them has shaped who I am today. My grandmother and grandfather lived a life of service to others. At 92 years old, my grandfather is still giving back to others and helping his community. My grandmother lead by example. As a Christian, she told me how to live, how to love, and how to follow Jesus. My grandfather & I still have amazing conversations and I cherish every one of them. They taught our family how to give back to our communities and I have tried to do that every day with my job, my volunteer time in my children's schools, and with my work as a former school board member. I live to follow their example of service and leaving my corner of the world better than I found it because I think it is an extremely important way to make life better for others.
I believe the core responsibility of someone elected to office is to truly be a voice for the people you represent. All too often, people are elected to an office and never speak to other leaders in their areas or to their constituents. You cannot be an effective elected official if you never work with the people you represent. You have to approach the position as a job of service and truly work to better the lives of those you serve.
I want to leave a legacy of a Christian who is a dedicated wife and mother. I want to be remembered as someone who worked diligently to make life better for others, someone who tried to always pay it forward because she was so richly blessed. What a legacy we can leave when we spend our time helping others.
To Kill a Mocking Bird will forever be my favorite book because it is the book that began my love of reading in Jr High.
The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature would be a relationship where both parties work together to make the state better. Nobody will always agree, but everyone must be willing to put differences aside and work together to continuously better the state. If they cannot do that, then our state and it's people are the ones who will suffer.
I do believe it is beneficial to build a relationship with other legislatures. I believe it is important to have a relationship where respect is present. While you don't need to always agree or even like one another. You should respect the person as someone who people in your state elected to represent them. When you have a mutual respect for other legislators, you can accomplish great things for your state and that is why people should be in these offices.
I do not believe compromise is always necessary because some proposed policies are so bad that even a compromise would not be good for the people. I do; however, believe that you should always be willing to listen to people with opposing views. It doesn't mean you will agree or anyone's mind will be changed, but we have to be willing to listen if we hope to move forward together.
