El Chupacabra (or alternatively El Chupacabras, which literally translates as "goat-sucker" from Spanish) is a term to refer to a cryptid from parts of the Americas. The creature is often said to prey on goats and other sorts of domestic livestock where its origins trace back to Puerto Rico. Despite being well-known in Spanish-speaking folklore, it makes rare to uncommon appearances in Disney properties.
The term "chupacabra" is used as a term to refer to a cryptid that attacks and preys on domestic animals - especially goats. The myth of the Chupacabra originated back in Puerto Rico and since then, alleged sightings were reported in various parts of the Americas, especially in other parts of the world outside the Americas such as Russia and the Philippines. Physical renditions by artists often interpret the creature as a reptilian, alien-like monster (mostly in Puerto Rico and Latin America) while others depict it as a canine-like creature (particularly in the Southwestern United States).
The word "chupacabra" is a combination of the Spanish words "chupar" (meaning "to suck"; referring to the creature's habit on preying on livestock) and "cabra" (meaning "goat").
In the episode, the chupacabra is seen during the "Chupacabra Ho" musical sequence during the part where Phineas, Ferb, Buford and Baljeet go on an expedition to seek the elusive chupacabra. Upon finding the chupacabra, the gang manages to bring it back home via crate. Candace then talks to her mother via phone while talking about the crate with the chupacabra inside while Phineas and Baljeet are planning to feed him only to find out that the crate containing the chupacabra inside was moved. Later when Perry is facing off against Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Major Monogram contacts Agent P that they have heard that a new agent named "Agent CH" has had his compromise covered, telling Carl to be the closest agent to track down the monster. Candace shows the crate where the chupacabra is supposed to be at only to find Buford in a goat costume inside instead. Agent CH, the chupacabra agent, then leaves off via Chupacopter donning an agent hat just as Phineas shows Perry the images he took of the chupacabra on their journey in New Mexico. The chupacabra's screeching is heard just before the episode cuts to black, ending the episode.
A chupacabra puppet also appeared in the Disney+ short, "The Last of the Chupacabras" part of the Launchpad series. The chupacabra was puppeteered by Amanda Maddock and Ronald Binion respectively.
While Chepa is narrating about an elusive chupacabra down the street, she describes it as the last of its kind. However, she feels her house suddenly rumbling just as she prays for protection and after the rumbling stops, she then walks outside to see the chupacabra in her garden and upon seeing one of its legs injured, Chepa plans to take it home to take care of the chupacabra and heal its wounded leg to which after getting healed, the chupacabra stares at her and shows a friendly personality to her. During dinnertime, Chepa serves the chupacabra some tamales and starts eating the tamales she served. She then comforts the chupacabra for being a kind creature. Listening to the music from Chepa's radio, she then approaches the chupacabra just as she observes it listening to music and dances along with Chepa to the music from her radio just as the chupacabra and Chepa happily dance together spending her new life adopting the chupacabra, telling the chupacabra that it will be her joy for her just as the chupacabra falls asleep.
The next day, Chepa observes the chupacabra on her cart of tamales just as she takes the chupacabra for a walk across the streets and upon staring at a group of people, it snarls at them with a ferocious expression just as the tour group is frightened upon seeing the chupacabra on the street. Chepa's neighbor next door owns a nian which plays with the chupacabra together just as Chepa and her neighbor laugh together to see the nian and the chupacabra playing along throughout the credits just before the scene cuts to black, ending the episode.
El Chupacabra is mentioned in the episode "Summer of El Chu-PAW-Cabra". Buela Ramirez states that it is part wolf-part bear-part lizard and that it feeds on small creatures including "perritos" (little dogs). While Tater never encounters it, believing that it is fictional, the very end of the episode implies that the Chupacabra is real, but eats paletas (popsicles). In "Summer of Hacienda Chills", LotLot implies that she knows of its existence.
