- “Oh that's our sister. Our...hee hee... big sister.”
- ―Phineas Flynn
"Attack of the 50 Foot Sister" is the 51st episode of Phineas and Ferb. It originally aired on Disney XD on February 21, 2009 and on Disney Channel on May 1, 2009.
Synopsis[]
Phineas and Ferb help Baljeet with his Middle of Summer Festival contest entry for the biggest watermelon using a growth elixir they created which Candace uses in order to increase her height in order to be the next Flawless Girl after secretly stealing it from them when finding out that she wasn't tall enough to be one without their knowledge or consent, only to accidentally become a giant. Elsewhere, with the Festival's annoyance, Dr. Doofenshmirtz plans to cover the Festival with the "worst smell in the history of mankind".
Summary[]
Candace and Stacy are watching television in Candace's room. Stacy reads from a Flawless Girl magazine, which also just so happens to be what they were watching on television from a commercial, that the Flawless Girl founder, Blanca Dishon, will be at the Mid-Summer's Festival to search for the next Flawless Girl. Candace feels confident that she might have a shot at being the next Flawless Girl, feeling like that she'd be lost without it giving her some pointers on how to look, so she decides to head to the festival and try out for herself after questioning Stacy of when is the Mid-Summer's Festival with Stacy telling her that it probably is in the middle of summer which is about now. Outside in the streets, Phineas and Ferb see the Midsummer's Festival trucks driving by, declaring that is must be the middle of summer before they get a signal from Baljeet. He asks them to help him grow his shrunken watermelon at the Midsummer's Festival since they helped him build his portal to Mars. Phineas agrees to help him and tells Ferb that they're going to the festival and to grab his Jr. Chemistry Set he got for Bastille Day.
Perry enters his lair through a koi pond along with three other fish, whom Major Monogram hires as secret agents. He tells Perry to go see Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Meanwhile, Phineas and Ferb meet Baljeet at the Midsummer's Festival where he shows them how small his watermelon was and states how it not only mocks him also how it brings shame to his family as well. Phineas tells Ferb that it was time for a little chemistry and he then takes out his chemistry set as he and Phineas begin to create a Growth elixir to help grow Baljeet's watermelon. Candace arrives at the festival elsewhere to find the Flawless Girl booth and meets P. P. Otter, founder of the Oddball show, which is a freak show, as he offers to help make her feel better about herself by explaining that she can pay five dollars to see his oddballs, but tells him that she doesn't need his help as she's got the Flawless Girl cosmetics to make herself feel good. While walking to try and find the Flawless Girl booth, she comes across Phineas, Ferb and Baljeet as they were about to pour the growth elixir on Baljeet's Watermelon and questions them about what they are up to with Phineas explaining that they are gonna help Baljeet win the biggest watermelon contest. But when they put a drop on Baljeet's watermelon as she watches, it only grows a few inches. This makes Candace laugh and jokingly calls them "giant nerds" as she assumes that's all it did despite knowing that Phineas and Ferb have regularly accomplish the impossible with big and grand inventions before walking away, but didn't realize that it hadn't taken full effect yet as Phineas and Ferb were giving it time to grow with Baljeet feeling like that it wouldn't work and wanting to put up shame curtains due to this with Phineas explaining that it hasn't taken full effect yet.
Candace heads off to the Flawless Girl booth, where Blanca sits. Blanca tells Candace to stand over by a measuring post after Candace introduces herself and tells her about her goal of being the next Flawless Girl as she is told by her that she is two inches (5.08 cm) too short to become the next Flawless Girl as one of the lyrics mentioned in the brand's song states it to be never less than 5 foot 10 according to Blanca as she explains it to her and even shows her the song's lyric sheet since she wasn't looking for a rhyme like what Candace thought. Candace walks away with her new Flawless Girl skin care products she bought that were offered to her by Blanca as a consolation, who mentions that she can come close to be a Flawless Girl by buying them, crying about being too short while talking to her mom about it on the phone, not taking this well and assuming she can never be perfect no matter what she does and will always be two inches too ugly, adding that she needed a sudden growth spurt in the next fifteen minutes and then remembers that Phineas and Ferb had created a growth elixir before she hangs up off the phone, now having an idea of how she can become tall enough to be the next Flawless Girl but with her still not being aware that it hadn't taken full effect yet and didn't realize that this wasn't going to be a good idea, as Phineas, Ferb, and Baljeet were still waiting for the watermelon to grow. Candace secretly steals the growth elixir from them and pours a drop of it on herself as it makes her taller by two inches. Candace goes back to the Flawless Girl booth and gets told by Blanca that she is now in the running to become the next Flawless Girl after surprising her with her new height.
As it turns out, the growth elixir was much more powerful than what Candace thought and Phineas was right about it not taking full effect yet, when it begins to take full effect. Baljeet's watermelon grows to become the biggest watermelon at the festival. Moments after it grew, Candace begins growing taller as well. Soon enough, she becomes a 50-foot (15.24-m) tall giant as her nose grows first right after meeting up with Stacy to tell her that she's in with the auditions starting in 2 hours, Stacy also just so happen to asked her if something was different about her before Candace responded by saying that maybe she might have grown out of awkward phase right before her nose grew, then her head after discovering it by running into the House of Mirrors to look into a mirror, needing to find a mirror immediately right after her nose grew. After discovering her gigantic head and realizing that she turned into Bobblehead Candace as stated by Candace herself, she runs out of the house of mirrors screaming and into a tent to hide right before the rest of her body grew to the size of her head, then she grew again for the final time to completely finish her gigantic growth and then she sneaks over towards Phineas and Ferb with the tent still over her back, pleading Phineas, who wondered what had happened to the growth elixir he and Ferb created until seeing that Candace grew gigantic because of it after poking her head out of the tent and adds that's what happened to it when he and Ferb saw her after she grew, Phineas even thought that it was a "strange talking tent" before Candace poked her head out of the tent to show them what their growth elixir did to her, if he has some kind of shrinking antidote, believing that the two boys were responsible for doing this to her and figured that they can undo it, even though she was the one who used the growth elixir they created on herself without their knowledge or consent. Phineas tells her that he and Ferb don't but to not worry as they'll get right on it right before P.P. Otter walks over and gives Candace his business card, after seeing her with a gigantic head while she was running into the tent to hide before the effects of the growth elixir had completely finished while he was on the phone talking about finding some new talent for his Oddball Show since nobody would pay him to see his oddballs anymore after a failed attempt to hide from him and tells her to give him a call if she changes her mind after she denies the offer by saying that she kinda was going through something at the moment, as the boys jokingly introduce her to him as their "big" sister because of her now gigantic size as they thought it was funny but were trying to hold in their laughing after he introduces himself to them and questions them about introducing her to him, much to her annoyance before she was given the card. He walks away afterwards, Candace explains to Phineas and Ferb that they gotta change her back to her normal size due to the Flawless Girl auditions starting in a couple of hours.
Meanwhile at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Perry enters the building, interrupting The Slacks singing Doofenshmirtz's evil jingle. Doofenshmirtz then traps him in a baby toy, telling him about his cousin Gertrude's baby shower he went to the other day which he got the idea for the trap from. He then explains that he has created a device that will cover the entire Tri-state area with the smell of dirty diapers that he had gotten from the baby shower, as he gets annoyed from the noise of the Mid-Summer's Festival.
Back with Candace, Phineas, and Ferb, along with the tent that she was hiding in no longer up, Phineas and Ferb still hadn't figured out a way to undo the effects of the growth elixir despite saying that they'll get right on it earlier and that they have already done so with their past inventions, with Candace asking them about making up some kind of reducing cream or an amazing shrink ray device, Phineas tells her that they'll see what they can do but we're not magicians, then Candace begins to cry, which leads to her crying a single giant tear, saying that she's freak and that she will never be a Flawless Girl at the same time Ferb pulls out his umbrella to prevent himself and Phineas from getting soaked from her giant tear. She decides to go to P.P. Otter and his oddball show, assuming that is the only place she would fit in and that she was never going to see her family again, explaining to her brothers that it was nice knowing them and to tell her both parents that she loves them, believing that she'll be living amongst the carnies from now on before she stomps away to go to him while continuing to cry, causing the ground to shake, leaving Phineas to give Ferb a look of concern on his face after watching her stomp away in sadness.
Upon accepting P.P. Otter's request in sadness, Candace is told to climb a skyscraper carrying him dressed in a gorilla suit (which he had been wearing all day before revealing so) in a reversed twist of King Kong as a big promotional stunt. Candace climbs up the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated building while inside, Doofenshmirtz guides Perry to the balcony at the same time Candace is seen through the window climbing as he somehow doesn't notice the giant girl climbing his building, where he shows his Smellinator and a flask filled with liquid concentrated dirty diaper smell that he plans to use to spread the liquid throughout the festival.
When Candace reaches the top of the building, Blanca spots her as she was about to crown another participant and as it turns out, she decides that Candace is the next Flawless Girl instead of the participant that she was about to crown as she was amazed to see what Candace had been able to accomplish. Upon seeing this, she takes an elevator to the top of D.E.Inc to tell Candace that she is the next Flawless Girl after she picks her up in her hand when she couldn't hear her, explaining that girls will never be able to live up to the expectations she had set because of her new height and that they'll be forced to buy her products forever, much to his disagreement, P. P. Otter begins to argue with Blanca over Candace. However, unfortunately for them, their argument ended up making future plans they had in mind backfire for the both of them as it Candace realize that the both of them make money off of people's natural insecurities, with P.P. Otter showing people oddballs to make them feel better about themselves and Blanca making beauty an unattainable life goal to make people feel worse about themselves as she points out the inconsistencies of theirs to them both after raising them up close to her face upon realizing this. Candace even adds to the both of them that despite the fact that even though she is now a 50-foot tall giant, she knows full well that all of this is pretty much still out of her reach. With that now officially in mind, she decides to stop making beauty the focus of her life and not be a Flawless Girl like how she originally intended to in the first place, now seeing that she really didn't need to be one this entire time, nor an Oddball, as most of it had kept her distracted from the real focus of her life: busting Phineas and Ferb. She leaves Blanca and P.P. Otter on top of the building while wishing them both peace and jumps down to the ground to go do just that.
Candace leaves the growth elixir on top of the building, leading P.P. Otter and Blanca to have a fight over it upon immediately noticing it in attempt to try and get it for themselves to make money after having their offers turned down, accidentally throwing it off the building. It lands into Doofenshmirtz's hands, replacing the dirty diaper flask that he intended to put into the invention with the growth elixir as he puts the elixir into the invention instead without realizing this and activates it after setting the range selector option to be around 200 yards around the building but the option is accidentally set to the whole universe after he was kicked into it by Perry who was freed from the trap that he was in by one of the fish agents who came to the rescue so Perry could fight him, spraying the elixir throughout the whole universe, causing most of it to grow bigger, making it look like nothing ever happened to Candace and right before she was able to show her mom that Phineas and Ferb made her into a giant, thinking that she had returned to her normal size when she actually didn't as soon as she got inside the house to explain to her mom that she's 50 feet tall and didn't even fit in it before realizing that she does fit inside it.
Back at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, Doofenshmirtz wonders what went wrong since nothing smelled any different after the use of the invention and Perry kicks him again as he lands on the table with the dirty diaper smell that was on his table landing in his hands. Perry then kicks him again and the dirty diaper flask this time, lands on the top of his building, surrounding it with the smell. Perry puts all the fish agents in a plastic bag and makes his escape afterwards right before the building was covered, leaving Doofenshmirtz to wonder what was he thinking.
Due to the universe becoming larger, Baljeet loses the contest right when he was about to win. He then goes home to put up his shame curtains after showing Phineas and Ferb his now tiny watermelon when he was questioned by Phineas if he won the contest.

Background information[]
- This episode, as well as two commentaries for it, are available on the Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension DVD. One is done by the show's creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh. The other is done by the characters they voice, Doctor Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram, respectively.
- In the character commentary, Monogram mentions he dated Blanca Dishon once when he was an exchange student in France. However, it seems like he did not enjoy it.
- Also, during above commentary, when Candace climbs Doofenshmirtz's building as he passes with Perry, Doof comments on how he did not even notice her, wondering how he did not feel the vibration from her. He also discovers how his plan failed after watching the boy's growth formula winding up in his hands, shouting frantically at his episode version not to put it in as Monogram laughs both times.
- He also comments about how he did not notice the boy's growth formula winding up in his hands along with adding about how he somehow didn't notice himself putting it into the machine despite him facing the other way while doing so since he was talking to Perry while he was doing so. He also comments about how the growth elixir got to the top of his building before it fell into his hands when Candace was not shown to be holding it nor putting it down before leaving along with stating it as a possibly of scene being cut out from it at some time.
- And in the creators commentary one of the ideas for the smell Doofenshmirtz was going to spread on the festival was the scent of his uncle Justin.
- Also, during above commentary, Povenmire and Marsh comment about how they basically wanted to show the audience that they should be happy with the way they are and not let anybody tell them otherwise else along with mentioning that there are people out there who take advantage of their insecurities. Both also mention that they are perfectly happy with the way they are.
- They also comment about how they basically made everything in the universe bigger to match Candace perfectly instead of returning her to her normal size.
Production information[]
- Episode description from a 2009 Disney XD Phineas and Ferb press release:[1]
- When Baljeet enters a vegetable growing contest at the local fair, Phineas and Ferb create the PhineasandFerbalizer to speed up the growing process. Meanwhile, Candace is attempting to make her way in the modeling business, but is told she's too short. Phineas and Ferb use their newest invention to help her grow, but she doesn't stop growing.
- In iTunes, the episode is described as "Attack of the 50 Foot Candace" and in the episode's description, the growth elixir is referred to as "Phineasandferbalizer" (not the description from when it's on air). The episode's description says "Phineas and Ferb help Baljeet win a vegetable-growing contest with phineasandferbalizer".
International premieres[]
Errors[]
- It is bizarre that Doofenshmirtz had a banjo, because in the episode with "Mom's Birthday", he said he hated musical instruments that start with the letter "B". That said, Doofenshmirtz did have golf clubs even though he said he didn't play golf in "One Good Scare Ought to Do It!".
- Technically, when Dr. Doofenshmirtz puts the growth elixir into the Smellinator, the universe should've grown slightly and then after an unknown period of time grow 10 times its original mass. Instead it grows entirely at once. Being used in a machine may have accelerated the process, though. It's also possible that the growth elixir might not always take that long to process whenever is used on something.
- Linda has a transparent neck the second time she appears when she is talking on the phone with Candace.
- Near the end of the episode when Doofenshmirtz is wondering why the Smell-inator didn't have any effect, he is standing near the beaker of the liquid dirty diaper smell. Agent P kicks him over and past the cart that the beaker was sitting on and he lands next to the cart again.
- In that same scene before he was kicked over by Agent P, the bottle that Phineas and Ferb had their growth elixir in and was put into the machine by Doofenshmirtz himself earlier disappears after it was used in the machine.
- When Candace says "...and you make beauty totally unattainable so they'll feel worse about themselves!..." when pointing towards her left hand Blanca, her left hand is smaller than her right one (viewer's left).
- When Candace runs out of the house of mirrors, her tongue is enlarged then her head but it shouldn't because when Candace turned into Bobblehead Candace after seeing it for herself in the mirror, her tongue was normal. It could also be that her tongue was in the full phase before the rest of her body.
- When the Flawless Girl uses her mascara in close up, her eye is a different shape and is smaller than usual.
- Near the end of the episode when Doofenshmirtz is wondering why the Smell-inator didn't have any effect, he is standing near the beaker of the liquid dirty diaper smell. Agent P kicks him over and past the cart that the beaker was sitting on and he lands next to the cart again.
- When Stacy and Candace are in front of the mirror, Stacy's and Candace's heads are littler than the reality, but the mirror isn't made for that, because of his shape.
- One of the lines in the Flawless Girl song is "She's at the forefront of every trend" but when Blanca shows Candace the lyric sheet for the same song, the line gets listed as "At the forefront of every trend". Though is possible that those were originally the lyrics for the band's song and that Blanca had the original lyric sheet instead without realizing it or they were working on changing the lyrics for the band's song and that the sheet Blanca had was a new version of the band's song that wasn't even completed yet without realizing it either.
- Phineas and Ferb never labeled their Growth Elixir, and since Candace and Baljeet where the only ones who they told them what it was called, P.P. Otter and Blanca wouldn't have known what it was called without a label on it as Candace never told them what it was called before she left to go bust Phineas and Ferb, instead P.P. Otter immediately finds out what it was called without a label on it as soon he immediately notices it behind him after Candace left.
- In that same scene before Blanca and P.P. Otter started fighting over it and before it fails into Doofenshmirtz's hands, Candace wasn't shown to be holding it or putting it down before leaving.
Continuity[]
- Phineas asks Ferb to get out his chemistry set he got from Bastille Day. Ferb also received a camera on Bastille Day in "The Lake Nose Monster".
- The episode takes place a few days after "Unfair Science Fair" as Baljeet says: "A few days ago, you helped me build a portal to Mars.." If the episodes had been ran correctly, it would have been about 9 days, going by the episodes' production numbers and counting each 11-minute segment in between as a single day.
Allusions[]
- Attack of the 50 Foot Woman - The title of the episode is likely a parody of the 1958 film and its 1993 remake.
- Batman - When Baljeet calls Phineas and Ferb on their holographic device, Phineas exclaims "It's the Baljeet Signal!", a reference to Batman.
- Pinky and the Brain - The mishap with Doofenshmirtz's smell-inator after the growth elixir was put in without Doofenshmirtz realizing that he put in the wrong potion, in which the planet grows and makes giant Candace the same size relative to her surroundings, recalls the plot and ending of the short "Tokyo Grows".
- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Baljeet's message, particularly the "Help me, Phineas and Ferb! You are my only hope!", is a near copy of Princess Leia's plea to General Kenobi. Baljeet also uses a hologram, and even mirror's Leia's actions at the end (looking over his shoulder and kneeling down to turn off the recorder). The background music during this scene is also similar. In the character commentary from the DVD release of Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, Doof points out that this is a Star Wars reference.
- King Kong - When Candace grows to become 50 feet (15.24 meters) tall, she climbs the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated building, holding P.P. Otter, who is wearing a gorilla suit. In his own words, it is a "reversal of a familiar theme" and it was also under his suggestion that he had in mind.
- Beakman's World - When Phineas and Ferb are developing the potion, Phineas says "Bada-Beem, Bada-Boom" (catchphrase of Beakman).
- P.P. Otter's name is most likely a parody of P.T. Barnum, of Barnum and Bailey's fame. As well as a urine joke. His surname might be a reference to an alleged joke played by Barnum: visitors to his show saw a sign pointing to the Water Otter exhibit - which turned out it was a kettle. It is likely the reason his show is called an Oddball Show instead of a freakshow is to avoid sparking controversy.
- The Karate Kid - Perry is standing in the "Crane Position" while Doofenshmirtz is wondering what happened to the Smellinator and delivers the kick after he finds the dirty diaper beaker.
- The Powerpuff Girls - The whole universe growing to be bigger to make it look like Candace returned to her normal size when she actually didn't around the end of this episode is similarly reminiscent of the ending of this show's episode "What's the Big Idea?", where Professor Utonium used Mojo Jojo's growth ray device that the villain happened to used earlier to make Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup giants so they couldn't stop him from committing crimes without causing any destruction to the city of Townsville to return the girls to normal size after not only fixing it when it was crushed by Blossom because of her gigantic size when she accidentally stepped on it, but also thinking that he was able to make it so that it works in reverse, but instead of the girls getting small again, the whole city of Townsville gets bigger than the earth, as Mojo Jojo adds that his device doesn't work in reverse after getting beaten up and thrown in jail by the girls while wondering how they got small again before it is revealed that the girls actually didn't.
- Dragon Tales - This episode contains some similarities to that show's episode "One Big Wish", where Max, like Candace, has height angst about being too short and tries to become bigger, and at first it works as they grow a little bit. However, it ends up working too well and they eventually become a giant. They end up crying at one point because they don't like being giant, and another character pulls out an umbrella to prevent themselves from getting soaked by their tears due to their massive size before the giant runs away in sadness. Both Candace and Max learn at the end of the episode that they should appreciate who they are.
- Futurama - Not from one of episodes from the series but from one of it's comic books called "Attack of the 50-ft Amy" Cubert and Dwight find a spray can bottle called Bigamist invented by Hubert Farnsworth that makes things bigger and decided to use it to make vegetables grow gigantic like how Baljeet wanted to do so with his watermelon, only for Amy however to get her hands on it and used it on herself after she mistakes it as her hair spray she was going to use to go out on her date with Kif while looking for it and eventually made her 50 feet tall. The comic book also involves a King Kong reference to where Amy climbs to the top of a building after growing to be 50 feet tall while holding Kif similar to how Candace did so with P. P. Otter in this episode.
- SpongeBob SquarePants - The story of this episode where Candace became a giant but didn't want to be one and was moaning about her size after being turned into one is similar to this show's episode "Giant Squidward", where Squidward becomes a giant after being sprayed by his kelp grow that SpongeBob and Patrick were fooling around with and turned him into a giant with it. But didn't like being a giant one bit like Candace.
Trivia[]
- This episode occurs a few days after the Portal to Mars was built, according to Baljeet's message. ("Unfair Science Fair" and "Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story)")
- Three new agents appear in this episode, which are all fish. They are given hats and made agents to avoid a lawsuit.
- This is the first time the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated jingle singers appear, presumably in a recording studio located in the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated building.
- Candace is 5' 8" (1.72 m).
- Assuming that Candace grew to exactly 50 feet tall as a result of exposure to the growth elixir, she became 8.824 times as tall as she was when the day began. Likewise, the Earth and the rest of the objects in the universe are now also 8.824 times larger than they were.
- This is one of few episodes where Stacy appears in person but her name is not spoken once.
- Dr. Doofenshmirtz tells Perry that he went to his cousin Gertrude's baby shower. Gertrude is also Candace's middle name. ("Fireside Girl Jamboree", "Hip Hip Parade")
- This episode is the second time Candace spends most of the episode after being changed by an invention in the series. ("Does This Duckbill Make Me Look Fat?")
- This is one of the rare times Phineas and Ferb are laughing at Candace (or at least trying not to).
- Phineas says the growth elixir only works once, which explains why Candace stayed the same size while the rest of the universe grew. Although it doesn't explain why the rest of the universe didn't continue to grow, and Candace, and the watermelon continues to shrink.
- This is the first episode of Season 2 that Baljeet appears without Buford.
- In "Out of Toon", the Control Freak (a.k.a Candace) grew 50 feet tall to destroy Team Improbable.
- The two boys from the Flawless Girl commercial are the two boys that see Candace in It's Candace ("One Good Scare Ought to Do It!")
- While on top of the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated building, Candace says, "Giant Candace is out, PEACE!" In "Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story)", she says, "Queen Candace is out! Peace!”
- As the carnival trucks pass the Flynn-Fletcher house, the melody heard resembles the melody of the second verse of the theme song.
- Second time the "Evil Jingle" gets referred to by name. ("I Scream, You Scream")
- Isabella does not make any appearances in either this episode or "Backyard Aquarium".
- This is one of the times Candace tried busting Phineas and Ferb for something that was actually her own fault (meaning in this episode, when she grew to be 50 feet tall or was about to after running into the tent to hide when she found that she had turned into Bobblehead Candace as stated by Candace herself before the rest of her body grew to the size of her head and then growing again one more time to completely finish her gigantic growth, she believed that Phineas and Ferb were the ones responsible for doing this to her and later tried to bust them for it when she was the one who used the growth elixir they created on herself after taking it from them without their knowledge or consent).
- This is the first time Candace changes her size in the series, (second if you count her as Control Freak growing to 50 feet tall in "Out of Toon") as in this episode, she used the growth elixir Phineas and Ferb created on herself so that she can become tall enough to be a Flawless Girl but backfires when it made her 50 feet tall and before trying to bust Phineas and Ferb later on for it even though she was the one who used it on herself after changing her mind about being one and denying the offer.
- Doofenshmirtz breaks the fourth wall by complaining about the festival being so loud that he can't even hear his own evil jingle.
- This is the only time Candace has height angst in the series (meaning she is insecure about her height due to being 2 inches too short (or, as she says, "2 inches too ugly") to be a Flawless Girl after not getting accepted to be in the running because of just about being two inches too short to do so) before using the growth elixir to make herself taller by 2 inches but backfires when it ended up making her 50 feet tall and later realizing that the entire time she really didn't need to be a Flawless Girl after all.
- She also believed that she had turned into a monster (or, as she said "a freak") due to her gigantic size after growing to be 50 feet tall and assumed that P.P. Otter's Oddball Show would be the only place she would fit in as she didn't think that she was actually going to easily get picked as the next Flawless Girl because of this but ended up being wrong when she was later spotted on top of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated by Blanca, who, as it turned out, didn't think she was a monster at all and thought the exact opposite when she spotted her along with her new size, believing she was the most Flawless Girl she had ever seen and as she explained it to Candace when she got to the top of the building using an elevator to get there of why she was picking her to be the next Flawless Girl, girls would never be able to live up to Candace's expectations since she is able to heighten expectations to such an unreachable level and deemed her to be her next Flawless Girl until she and P.P. Otter begin to argue over her, which made Candace realize that both of them take advantage of people's insecurities since their businesses are ways to do so whether is to make people feel better or worse about themselves and changed her mind about being the next Flawless Girl, along with being an Oddball.
- One of the lyrics in the song Flawless Girl which states to be "Never less than 5 foot 10", but the song never stated anything about never beyond higher than 5 foot 10, which may also be one of the reasons why Blanca selected Candace to be her next Flawless Girl even though she was 50 feet tall due to 50 feet being such an unreachable height expectation/level, only to end up being rejected by Candace after she changed her mind about being the next Flawless Girl.
- It's ironic that Candace not only becomes 50 feet tall in this episode, but also climbs the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated building which (at least in this episode) is even taller than her since she has acrophobia (fear of heights), as revealed in "S'Winter", "Bowl-R-Ama Drama", and later "Return Policy". Even more ironically, she doesn't show any signs of her acrophobia in this episode. She also jumps off the building after leaving Blanca and P. P. Otter on top of it when she ended up denying both of their offers due to her realizing that they take advantage of people's insecurities to make money whether it was to make them feel better or worse about themselves. Thought is possible that she forgot about having that in this episode.
- Another bit of irony is how Candace believed she would never be a Flawless Girl because of not only not getting accepted to be in the running to be one due to being two inches two short before using Phineas and Ferb's growth elixir they created only to help Baljeet grow his watermelon but also because her gigantic size after being fully effected by the growth elixir (which she thought made her a freak instead and made her feel like P.P. Otter's Oddball Show would be the only place where she would fit in and would be stuck to live there for the rest of her life, or as she says "from now on"), only for this to actually end up being the exact opposite to what she intentionally thought as she was easily picked as a Flawless Girl by Blanca because of her gigantic size when she spotted her and for Candace to likely be surprised by this since she wasn't expecting to easily get picked as a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size and therefore probably didn't see that coming as she did manage to get in the running to be one after using the growth elixir and before it made her grow gigantic (which Blanca thought would inspire jealousy in other women and convince them to buy more of her cosmetic beauty products for the rest of her life or, as she says "forever") in attempt to reach the unrealistic expectations set by Candace's height in which no other girl would ever be able to live up to the expectations Candace had set with her gigantic size because of how tall she was and for her deeming that more of her beauty products will be forced to be bought forever, only for her to not get that wish for the cosmetic of her's after not only getting into an argument with P. P. Otter over Candace but also when Candace decided to change her mind about being a Flawless Girl and decline both offers when she realized what she had been going through in this episode was ways to make money off of people's insecurities whether it was to make them feel better or worse about themselves caused by their argument over her, having her likely to also decide that all of this was a waste of her time and what she's really been needing to do the entire time instead of being an Oddball and not being a Flawless Girl: busting Phineas and Ferb since she stated it to be the real focus of her life instead of beauty as she tried doing so afterwards). Candace realizes that they make money off of people's insecurities which was enough for her to completely change her mind about being a Flawless Girl around the end of this episode, as she also does observe that Blanca and P. P. Otter aren't too different from each other since both of them exploit people's body image issues for money whether it was to make them feel better or worse about themselves and pointing out the inconsistencies to their actions on it before leaving to go bust Phineas and Ferb. Resulting in neither Blanca or P. P. Otter keeping her.
- Another bit of the irony is that this episode wouldn't be the only time Candace is shown growing gigantic, but her villainy counterpart, Control Freak from the Team Improbable cartoon in "Out of Toon", seem to have possessed this ability by growing to be 50 feet tall, possibly predicting an event from this episode of her growing gigantic again, but with it actually happening to her in real life (in this case, the Phineas and Ferb universe) instead of it happening in the cartoon.
- Another bit of that of the irony is that when Candace grew gigantic, she probably would have been extremely hungry because of her size after growing up to 50 feet, but doesn't show any signs of being that hungry because of her gigantic size.
- Another part of the irony is that if the circumstances were different, like if Candace had handled it better when she didn't get accepted to be in the running because of being two inches too short, not take Phineas and Ferb's growth elixir to increase her height by two inches, and never realized something about people's insecurities for money, she could technically have or not possibly tried again in a few years when she was older as she is shown in two later episodes to have become taller compared to her current height of five feet and eight inches as a 35 year old in "Phineas and Ferb's Quantum Boogaloo" and as a 25 year old in "Act Your Age", and therefore was also taller than the Flawless Girl height requirement of 5 foot 10 and not 50 feet tall like how she was in this episode after using the growth elixir created by her brothers to as to where she could have possibly tried again when she was older and taller (that is if Blanca were to once again be in the search for another Flawless Girl much like how she was in this episode and if Candace were interested of trying to become one again that is). Alongside that in if the different circumstances is that if she realized that about people's insecurities and if was aware of the full effects of the growth elixir earlier, then she wouldn't have tried becoming a Flawless Girl in the first place like how she was trying to when finding that she was just about too short to do before later realizing about people's insecurities for money and didn't use her brother's growth elixir they created only for Baljeet's watermelon and wouldn't have grown to be 50 feet tall. In addition to that of the different circumstances, if Candace had known that Blanca was actually going to easily pick her as a Flawless Girl if she saw her as a giant due to the unreachable expectations of height levels she was able to accomplish that no other girl would ever be able to live up to then she would have went to her instead of P. P. Otter and the argument over her between Blanca and P. P. Otter wouldn't have happened along with her not realizing that they take advantage of people's insecurities to make money, which is some what a saying of the term of little did the (person) know, meaning by that is little did Candace know, her gigantic size would have easily gotten her picked as a Flawless Girl, along with knowing that both of them take advantage of people's insecurities for money until later on when both of them got into an argument over her, and with not being tall enough to be one around the beginning of the episode as well before accidentally turning herself into a giant. Another of the alongside that is if she had been aware of the full effects of the growth elixir and knew that is much more powerful than what she thought, she wouldn't have used it on herself and would not have became 50 feet tall. Candace being picked as a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size also made her the only giant who has been chosen to be one for the cosmetic. It also made her the only Flawless Girl who turned down the offer after being chosen as one since she is really the only other known member of the cosmetic besides the unnamed model with a black shirt and white pants, as well as the only one who turned down the offer after already getting picked as one.
- Another part about that is when Candace believed that she would never be a Flawless Girl, that did end up being true, not quite literally since she was easily chosen as one by Blanca when she spotted her as a giant, but due to the fact that she decided to turn the offer down upon realizing that not only Blanca, but also P. P. Otter take advantage of people's insecurities for money whether it was to make them feel better or worse about themselves due to their argument over her, along with adding that her goal of being a Flawless Girl, or unintentionally an Oddball is still unable to be achieved due to it still being out of her reach despite being 50 feet tall as what she said, and therefore likely never tried to be one again following this, therefore it does feel like that ended up being true in a way similar to what she mentioned and before she ended up easily being chosen as one, along with realizing that the both of them take advantage of people's insecurities for money, even if she had completely changed her mind and decided to be neither a Flawless Girl or an Oddball.
- That said about what Candace had believed before she ended up being completely wrong when she was actually picked as a Flawless Girl by Blanca when she spotted her as a giant is that two girls that where also standing next to Blanca and saw Candace as a giant as well (with one of them was going to be crown as the next Flawless Girl before Blanca spotted Candace and her gigantic size and immediately changed her mind when she saw her as a giant) looked pretty freaked out (or shocked or scared or frightened due to their looks on their faces) when they saw Candace as a giant since they were probably not expecting to see a giant compared to Blanca who (even though she probably wasn't expecting to see a giant either) was not freaked out (or shocked or scared or frightened) at all when she saw Candace as a giant and instead choose her to be the next Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size since it made it so that Candace is able to heighten expectations to such an unreachable level unlike the other girls who had also audition to become the next Flawless Girl for the cosmetic of Blanca's and was enough for her to easily choose Candace as her next Flawless Girl also likely because Candace's gigantic size probably made the other girls who had also auditioned look pathetic to even be a Flawless Girl compared to Candace before she ended up having that offer denied when Candace decided to change her mind upon her realizing that not only Blanca but also P. P. Otter take advantage of people's insecurities to make money since their argument over her made Candace realize this.
- Yet another bit of irony is that despite the episode being titled Attack of the 50 Foot Sister, Candace doesn't actually attack anything or run amok on a destructive rampage of any kind after becoming gigantic (which would be extremely out of character for her, especially since she certainly didn't enjoy being a giant). Although if the circumstances were different and if the growth elixir had done more than just turning her 50 feet tall, she could have possibly done so if it had ended up not only turning her gigantic but also completely effecting the way she is into attacking anything or run amok on a destructive rampage of any kind.
- There are hints that are quite easy-to-miss implying that Blanca and P. P. Otter take advantage of people's insecurities to make money and their determinations to do so before it was all officially realized by Candace herself given throughout the episode:
- P. P. Otter offered Candace to see his show for five dollars to make herself feel better but she declined to see it since she didn't understand what that was about or possibly thought that he was trying to trick her into seeing something that would have frightened her and also told him that she didn't need to see his show since she had Flawless Girl Cosmetics to make herself feel good, implying that he shows people his show just so he can make them feel better about themselves if they paid him five dollars to see it and that his show was not the kind of ordinary freak show like others that is all about frightening people.
- He was on the phone talking with someone about finding a new talent for his show because of nobody paying him five dollars to see it anymore before seeing Candace with her gigantic head running into a tent to hide and before she officially finished growing to be 50 feet tall to get an idea of a new talent for his show just so he could continue to get more people to see his show in order to make themselves feel better.
- When he pulls out his card and before Candace takes it shorty after becoming gigantic, he questions her about how would she like to make him rich beyond her wildest dreams but she declines it before she later comes to him when Phineas and Ferb couldn't get her back to her normal size despite the fact they had accomplished the impossible multiple times with their past inventions along with Phineas telling Candace that he and Ferb will get right on making a shrinking antidote when she questioned them if they did after becoming gigantic when she was completely effected by their growth elixir she had used to increase her height by two inches but for it to work too well to as to where it ended up making her 50 feet tall and since she thought she would never be a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size since she thought it made her a freak instead and thought that would be the only place she would fit in, implying that he only wanted Candace to be part of his show so that more people would pay him five dollars to see it so he could make themselves feel better for that to continue happening and doesn't say anything else besides that to prevent Candace from finding out that he shows people his show to make them feel better about themselves, or maybe not find out about that but probably didn't think that someone was going to eventually turn down the offer of his even after already accepting his request. Which probably does explain why he even has that show in the first place.
- After the Flawless Girl song ends in the commercial that Candace and Stacy were watching on the TV, it states that nobody is perfect without using their cosmetic, this implies that Blanca and her company only made that commercial along with it's song and their company too just so they could trick other girls into buying her beauty products in force to the point as to where they end up feeling worse about themselves.
- Blanca offered Candace her Flawless Girl skin care products as a consolation which she buys when she didn't allow her in the running because of not being tall enough to do so without sounding completely concerned, implying that she doesn't care about girls to as to where she only intends to do anything to make beauty unattainable so they would lose confidence in themselves and for them to buy her beauty products sells as she certainly made Candace feel that way about herself before she got the idea to use the growth elixir created by her brothers to make herself two inches taller to get in the running. She also made Candace feel like she would never be able to achieve the goal of being a Flawless Girl when she became gigantic since she thought it made her a freak instead before she later easily picked Candace as a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size when she spotted her.
- This probably did later came back to light when Candace realizes that the both of them take advantage of people's insecurities to make money and comes to a conclusion that she is still not able to achieve neither despite her gigantic size by adding that is all still pretty much out of her reach since it really isn't able to change anything other than the fact that her size and height has completely changed compared to how it originally was before becoming gigantic.
- After immediately arriving to the top of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated upon seeing Candace as a giant, she tells her that she is the next Flawless Girl, explaining that was because of her gigantic size and that girls would be forced to buy her beauty products forever since they would never be able to live up to the expectations she had set, another example to prove that she doesn't care about girls and only intends to do anything to make beauty unattainable so they lose confidence in themselves for more of the beauty products to be bought in force by them. Even if she's willing to have a giant involved to be part of the cosmetic of her's and that she only wanted Candace to be part of it because of her gigantic size for that to continue happening, otherwise she wouldn't have picked Candace as a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size when she saw her as a giant. Which Blanca being at the Mid-Summer's Festival searching for the next Flawless Girl probably also does explain why she was even there in the first place, she also mentions to Candace that girls would be forced to but her beauty product forever since they would never be able to live up to the expectations Candace had set because of her height because of how big and gigantic her height was.
- And finally, Blanca's argument over her with P. P. Otter which was started by P. P. Otter to due Candace going to him before being spotted as a giant by Blanca since she was completely unaware that she would easily get picked as a Flawless Girl because of her gigantic size and that Blanca was trying to interfere with his business by telling Candace that she is the next Flawless Girl for the cosmetic of her's because of the unreachable expectations of height levels she had been able to accomplish and was trying to prevent her from doing so since he probably never thought that anyone would try to interfere with it and wasn't very happy about an interference with his business, which was enough to make Candace realize that the both of them take advantage of people's insecurities to make money and turned both of their offers down because of it and for her to come to a conclusion that despite her gigantic size she knows full well that all of it is still pretty much still out of her reach and is still unable to be achieved in anyway and that it had been distracting her from busting Phineas and Ferb, pretty much resulting in neither of them keeping her along with officially ending Candace's battle she has been facing through out the day of choosing to either be a Flawless Girl or an Oddball for her choosing to not stick with any of their offers, probably leaving them to find someone else in replacement for their businesses after having a fight over the Growth elixir when Candace ended up denying both of their offers. Thought it is unknown if they had done so or not following this.
- Morals:
- Always be happy with the way your appearance is and never let anybody tell you otherwise.
- In addition, don't judge people by their appearance in anyway either.
- Sometimes people who might be in the search for someone to be part of something of theirs actually just do it to take advantage of people's insecurities for money, whether is to make them feel better or worse about themselves.
- Also some people are not always who they may seem.
- It's also important to be aware that some people might do that.
- Sometimes doing something to yourself to be part of something when you don't get accepted to be part of it in anyway can only make things worse for yourself and it can also lead you getting into a problem.
- Sometimes it's best to not be part of something when you don't get accepted to be part of it in anyway.
- It's wrong to take advantage of people's insecurities, especially when it comes to making money. Because it's greedy.
- It's also not very nice depending on whether is to make them feel better or worse about themselves.
- Don't always expect to be part of something that you want to be part of in case you end up not getting accepted for it.
- This moral turns out to be subverted as Candace ends up changing her mind and rejects the offer of being the next Flawless Girl after realizing that not only Blanca but also P.P. Otter take advantage of people's insecurities for money.
- Always be happy with the way your appearance is and never let anybody tell you otherwise.
