II. Presentation: Today, we are going to discuss about “Giving
Meaning of Words Using Clues”. In this lesson, you
will learn to give the meaning of words using clues
like pictures, body movements, signs and symbols.
A. Discussion: Look at the pictures. What do you think are
the words the pictures would like to express?
(girl house fruits horse fiesta teacher)
We can give the meaning of words by using pictures.
Take a look at these pictures:
1 2 3
1. The first picture means – The children are playing.
2. The second picture means – Mother is cooking.
3. The third picture means – The dress is beautiful.
We can also give meaning of words through body
movements like the following examples:
read write walk
read write walk
eat sleep drink
When we communicate with other people to show what we
would like to emphasize, we do some actions or
movements to make meaning.
Example:
thumbs up thumbs down
means yes or agree means no or disagree
Another way in giving the meaning of words is through
signs and symbols.
THROW YOUR NO SMOKING KEEP QUIET
