Cranberry Salad Ingredients

These are the ingredients you’ll need to make this crowd-pleasing cranberry salad recipe:

  • Fresh produce: From the produce section, you’ll need fresh cranberries, an orange, and fresh celery.
  • Sugar: A cup of white sugar sweetens this cranberry Jell-O salad.
  • Walnuts: Walnuts lend nutty flavor and welcome crunch.
  • Canned pineapple: A drained can of crushed pineapple adds sweet, fruity flavor.
  • Jell-O: If you can’t find cranberry-flavored Jell-O, opt for raspberry.
  • Water: You’ll need two cups of hot water to activate the gelatin.

How to Make Cranberry Salad

You’ll find the full, step-by-step recipe below — but here’s a brief overview of what you can expect when you make cranberry salad:

  1. Process the cranberries, orange (including rind), and sugar together.
  2. Transfer to a bowl and stir in the nuts, pineapple, and celery.
  3. Pour hot water over the gelatin and stir, then stir it into the cranberry mixture.
  4. Pour it into a mold and chill until you’re ready to serve.

Can You Make Cranberry Salad Ahead of Time?

Since this cranberry salad is served cold, it’s a great make-ahead dish. Though it’ll keep safely for up to one week in the fridge, it’s best to make it no more than three days in advance for the best flavor and texture.

Store it in the mold until you’re ready to serve.

“This is just amazing,” raves teasnob. “Wonderful bright flavors, interesting texture, beautiful color...a perfect addition to any table!”

“Great recipe,” according to Emily Brown Long. “I left out the celery and added a small peeled apple instead. I find that it really helps if you use some of the excess pineapple juice in the blender with the cranberries first.”
