John Shakespeare (c. 1531 – 7 September 1601) was the father of William Shakespeare. He was the son of Richard Shakespeare of Snitterfield, a farmer. He moved to Stratford-upon-Avon and married Mary Arden, with whom he had eight children, five of whom survived into adulthood. A well-to-do glover and whittawer (leather worker) by trade, Shakespeare was a dealer in hides and wool, and was elected to several municipal offices, serving as an alderman and culminating in a term as bailiff, the chief magistrate of the town council, before he fell on hard times for reasons unknown to historians. His fortunes later revived after the success of his son, and he was granted a coat of arms five years before his death, probably at the instigation and expense of his playwright son.
John Shakespeare moved to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1551, where he became a successful businessman involved in several related occupations. From 1556 to 1592, several official records identify him as a glovemaker, which was probably his primary trade, as tradition remembers him as following that trade even into his old age, but the records of his real estate purchases and legal expenses indicate an income much higher than that of a small-town tradesman. The administration of his father's estate in 1561 names him as a farmer. He inherited and leased agricultural lands and is on record as selling timber and barley. Court records also document him as a "brogger", an unlicensed—and therefore illegal—wool dealer. In addition, he bought and leased out houses. He was twice taken to court for violating the usury laws that prohibited charging interest higher than the legal limit of 10 percent.
Hundreds of Beatles' fans flock to Abbey Road to mark 45 years since the Beatles' were photographed on the crossing. It's been 45 years since The Beatles were photographed as they walked across a zebra crossing in St. John's Wood, London, for the cover of their iconic album, Abbey Road. Since then, thousands of fans from around the world have visited the crossing to recreate the pose and see Abbey Road Studios, where the "Fab Four" recorded most of their songs. To mark the anniversary on Friday, the cast of the West End hit show Let It Be led fans across the famous street, exactly 45 years to the minute after their heroes struck the pose. "It's 45 years to the minute since The Beatles posed for this picture. It only took 10 minutes to do and since then god knows how many millions of...
Join me on a journey through the streets of Whitechapel, one of London's most vibrant and storied areas. Our East London walking tour begins at Petticoat Lane, a bustling market dating back to the 1600s now known for its lively atmosphere and diverse range of goods. From there, we'll make our way to Wentworth Street once the heart of the Jewish East End and still a weekday market and centre of textile shops. As we continue our walk, we'll visit Commercial Street, where we'll see Toynbee Hall, a social reform centre that has played a crucial role in the development of the area. From there, we'll head to East Tenter Street, where we'll see the impressive St George's German Church dating from 1720. Next, we'll make our way to Commercial Road then to the site of the original White Church tha...
A message from BlueMoon Inspiration Thanks for coming to this new channel. The aim is to bring each poetic word to life for you, through unique and original content creation. For the best listening experience, it is recommended to use ear/headphones. We sincerely hope that these videos give you the inspiration and motivation to be the best version of yourself. "The Road Not Taken" was first published in the August 1915 issue of the Atlantic Monthly, and later published as the first poem in the 1916 poetry collection; Mountain Interval. The meaning of this poem has been debated for over a 100 years. While each poem has its intended explanation i.e., the one the author was trying to convey, a poem can also have its own interpretation to the reader. In this case, for me it means, both roads ...

Travel: Saturday 02/05/1964 Having completed the filming of their first feature film A Hard Day's Night, The Beatles enjoyed holidays for much of May 1964. Paul McCartney, Jane Asher, Ringo Starr and Maureen Cox went together to the Virgin Islands, while John and Cynthia Lennon flew with George Harrison and Pattie Boyd to Tahiti via Hawaii. «The Beatles' holiday was to be gloriously private. We hired a company and told them we wanted a fool-proof secret route plotting for four young men and three girlfriends and a wife. The men, we explained, would travel in pairs, the girls one pair, two singles. We wanted two destinations, at which two sets of couples would link up. None of the arrangements were to be made by phone, and code names were created for the eight. Mr McCartney was Mr Mannin...
