John Shakespeare (c. 1531 – 7 September 1601) was the father of William Shakespeare. He was the son of Richard Shakespeare of Snitterfield, a farmer. He moved to Stratford-upon-Avon and married Mary Arden, with whom he had eight children, five of whom survived into adulthood. A well-to-do glover and whittawer (leather worker) by trade, Shakespeare was a dealer in hides and wool, and was elected to several municipal offices, serving as an alderman and culminating in a term as bailiff, the chief magistrate of the town council, before he fell on hard times for reasons unknown to historians. His fortunes later revived after the success of his son, and he was granted a coat of arms five years before his death, probably at the instigation and expense of his playwright son.
Career and municipal responsibilities
John Shakespeare moved to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1551, where he became a successful businessman involved in several related occupations. From 1556 to 1592, several official records identify him as a glovemaker, which was probably his primary trade, as tradition remembers him as following that trade even into his old age, but the records of his real estate purchases and legal expenses indicate an income much higher than that of a small-town tradesman. The administration of his father's estate in 1561 names him as a farmer. He inherited and leased agricultural lands and is on record as selling timber and barley. Court records also document him as a "brogger", an unlicensed—and therefore illegal—wool dealer. In addition, he bought and leased out houses. He was twice taken to court for violating the usury laws that prohibited charging interest higher than the legal limit of 10 percent.
A red carpet is traditionally used to mark the route taken by heads of state on ceremonial and formal occasions, and has in recent decades been extended to use by VIPs and celebrities at formal events.
History
The earliest known reference to walking a red carpet in literature is in the play Agamemnon by Aeschylus, written in 458 BC. When the title character returns from Troy, he is greeted by his vengeful wife Clytemnestra who offers him a red path to walk upon:
Agamemnon, knowing that only gods walk on such luxury, responds with trepidation:
Oriental carpets in Renaissance painting often show rugs and carpets, patterned but with red often the main background colour, laid on the steps to a throne, or on a dais where rulers or sacred figures are placed.
A red carpet was rolled out to a river to welcome the arrival of United States president James Monroe in 1821. In 1902, The New York Central Railroad used plush crimson carpets to direct people as they boarded their 20th Century Limited passenger train. This is believed to be the origin of the phrase "red-carpet treatment". Film premieres are often laid down with red carpets.
The NorthernTool.com 250 was a NASCARNationwide Series race held at the Milwaukee Mile. From 1984 to 1985, the race was 200 laps, 200 miles (321.9km) long. From 1986 to 1992, no race was held. In 1993, the race returned, and was increased to 250 laps, 250 miles (402.3km), a distance it has remained at since. The race was traditionally held Sunday afternoons, while the Winston Cup Series was either off or at a different venue, but starting in 2004, the race has been run on Saturday night.
Until the race sponsor changed to Camping World in 2008, the sponsorship of this race was not affected by the September 7, 2007, settlement between AT&T and NASCAR in regard to a grandfathered sponsorship deal, as Anheuser-Busch, the sponsor of the now NASCAR Nationwide Series at the time of the lawsuit, was not associated with the wireless industry. The 2010 race was canceled and the date was moved across Wisconsin to Road America.

Buttercup by Carpet Ride (Verse 1) Lying sick On a ship With the water pouring in Should I go down with it? Or find a piece of mind In a world that’s so unkind unlike my own But Id rather stay than go (Verse 2) So tough shit Predicaments Always come when were forbidden from the things we love the most Her eyes are closed I am alone In present time but who knows I cant read my own mind because (Chorus) Every now and then I'll Start to fall in love You can call me buttercup I'll smile Steer you in the wrong direction In style Cause I’m so starved of her affection (Bridge) Don’t ask to be saved Don’t say my name When things are said and done cause no one Has ever played The games we played and you just never won And I'm shamed This happened again I don't recommend situations when they get sticky and Please don't forget The stains show up better wearing black or red
