"Shakespeare" and "John Milton" father and son (WS65)
This video expands on the previous two videos by exploring the genealogy surrounding Thomas Paget, the theologian from Nantwich and his alleged "son" William Paget and Nathan Paget, supposedly John Milton's friend.
John Milton's friend, "Charles Diodati", was allegedly the nephew of the bible translator, Giovanni Diodati, who I believe was an alias of the bard too, making his friend actually a “half-brother” of his, being born to one of his other wives. 'Charles Diodati' was a physician (like his father Theodore Diodati), who studied in Chester (just 28 miles from Nantwich, 6 miles from Spurstow).
Handwritten notes, identified as John Milton's (by Jason Scott-Warren), have been found on a copy of the the First Folio and Hollinshead's Chronicles.

What does the famous magician John Dee have to do with the works of Shakespeare? Brady & Chance argue a lot, as he is well connected to the English Renaissance literature scene with Philip Sidney and Edward Dyer and the rest of the "Sidney Circle".
Can we continue to find evidence that perhaps Philip Sidney was a major contributor to the works of "William Shakespeare"? We'll see how John Dee, a heralded figure by those of Alexander Waugh and Alan Green in their Shakespeare investigations, is remarkably close to Philip Sidney, perhaps suggesting Sidney and Dyer are strong candidates for (some) of the writings of William Shakespeare, as they possessed not just the literary skill but sophisticated education and worldly experience that drenches the work of Shakespeare.
We unpack it all as we connect John Dee to the burgeoning British Empire, English Renaissance and scientific scene with the works of William Shakespeare, an epic podcast for you to chew on for quite awhile!
Enjoy, dear friends.

Link to front cover and pages 28-30 of "The History of The Parish of Wistaston..." published in 1999, mentioning the marriage of Elizabeth Minshull of Nantwich to John Milton and Rev. Thomas Paget to Margery Minshull. It also states that she returned to a house in Hospital Street Nantwich by 1688, after Milton died. Nantwich Library Reference: "CP/WIST/W"
They married in 1644 at St. Aldermanbury church, London where the permanent curate was Edmund Calamy the Elder, who "coincidentally", was one of the 5 members of the "Smectymnuus" group, that included William Spurstow ("the younger" or "WS", then allegedly often written "VVS" equivalent to UUS, an allusion to initials of the the bard - namely his father and alias "William Spurstow (merchant)" who died c1644*). The group included Thomas Young, who is known as tutor to John Milton. Katherine Woodcock, 2nd wife - was I believe, related to John Gerard (the botanist/herbalist from Nantwich).
