Overview

Kiva (キヴァ Kiva?) was the 11th Division Combat Executive of the Great Demon King Army and served under the 11th Demon Lord, Jachi.

Appearance[]

Kiva had devil-like wings and three pairs of pointed ears, each with an earring. He wore a suit with a bow tie and arrow-like edges. Upon getting serious, his appearance became more monstrous with enlarged sharp teeth and massively bulging muscles.

Personality[]

Kiva was a sadistic demon who wanted to kill humans. He was loyal to his masters and acts calculative, as seen when he ignored the robots at first due to them fighting humans. He was cruel to humanity, using taunts against humans such as Hallow and retains a calm demeaner when the situation is under his control.

Beneath his calm demeaner was also a prideful demon who became angry when things became unexpected. An example was when he immediately retaliated against the robots when they attacked him, ignoring the humans momentarily before becoming more enraged when they escaped. He also developed a serious grudge against Hallow, blaming him for his injuries after destroying the robots and sought to kill him. It goes to the point where despite promising to fight him fairly in their next fight, Kiva quickly broke his promise in both frustration and fear at Hallow's true strength.

He was also surprised by the strange new reality the world has become along with the violent nature of the titans who gruesomely killed many demons. Along with his meeting with the machines, when the Madalans arrive, Kiva decided to kill them all quickly, not wishing to underestimate them, showing that he realized the dangers that now reside in the new world. This comes from his long lifespan where for over two centuries Kiva admitted to feeling bored with killing humans.

Though with the constant appearances of new enemies, Kiva internally admitted they were more than he expected, forcing him to push aside his pride and ignoring humans to better deal with them. Upon witnessing the Madalans true strength however, it cultivates into causing Kiva to realize the possibility that the many Demon Lords and demonkind as a whole are facing a genuine threat to their rule. By the end, upon the decimation of many demons from the Madalans and the arrival of the Kaiju, Kiva attests that for once in his life he understood humans' fears and what it felt like to face "Overwhelming Power". Despite this fear, Kiva pushed them aside as he recalled the humans who were defiant and imitated them as he charged against the Madalans while wishing Lord Jachi luck as he entered a last-ditch effort to stop the aliens.

Plot[]

Background[]

250 years ago Kiva was born into a high-class demon clan. He was a very young demon when Lord Jachi recognized his skills and got promoted to the proud ranks of an executive. Throughout his life he served the Great Demon King Army. He found and raided human villages, and after the Demon King's intelligence division got hold of information regarding the "hero-raising project", Kiva was sent to suspicious locations and annihilated all of the humans.[1]

Introduction Arc[]

Kiva appears alongside many Demons at the meeting place of Keila and her squad and Zaybi, shortly after the worlds begin to merge. After he kills Susma he introduces himself as a captain from the Great Demon King Army. Keila and her squad then try to shoot Kiva but to no avail as he stops the bullets with his arm.[2] Stahn shoots at him later on but the demon simply returns the bullet with a finger flick, which cuts the soldier in half. Kiva notes that there weren't any external forces other than the 47 heroes, but doesn't mind since it's more humans to exterminate.[3] Jyu then attempts to drive a car into Kiva but yet again the demon stops him by grabbing the car and swinging it rapidly and throwing it back in the direction of Keila and Freen. As the car is about to hit them Hallow appears and cuts it in two, saving them.[4] He then attempts to hit Kiva with the Hero's Blade but fails because of his fear to Demons before turning and throwing his sword toward the Advanced Robot. This confuses the demon but later makes him realize he's trying to make everyone fight him. Kiva then appears behind Hallow and attempts to crush him with his hand but the Advanced Robot detects his massive energy output and shoots him. He notes that he had intended to leave him, but that's no longer an option, asking about the tribe from which the robot is. Advanced Robot then turns Kiva into their priority target as Zaybi, Hallow and the others take advantage of the situation and try to escape with Group Flight Magic: Fly-Away. Kiva tries to stop Hallow during this time, stretching an arm out to grab Hallow's leg, but fails because the Advanced Robot shoots Kiva's arm. Kiva then engages in battle with the Advanced Robot and emerges victorious after a gruesome battle and swears to find Hallow.[5][6]

Afterward, being able to track the magic in his cut arm which had clung to Hallow, Kiva flies toward the fortress alone. However, upon seeing the demon army's corpse pile made by titans, he becomes scared.[7]

Titans vs The Neo-Humans Arc[]

Kiva reports the situation to Jachi, detailing the presence of robots, a grotesque mountain formed from their brethren, and the bizarre structures and terrains that have appeared around the world. He then requests reinforcements to raid the human stronghold.[8]

Eventually, Kiva locates the Humanity's Fortress, with the formidable 11th Division's Great Demon King Army at his side.[9]

Demons vs Aliens Arc[]

Sensing the imminent threat of Kiva's presence, Hallow abandons the fortress' protection to engage the demon in combat. Hallow proposes a deal to Kiva: if Hallow prevails, Kiva must leave the humans alone. Kiva, finding the proposition preposterous, nonetheless consents, convinced of his inevitable victory over Hallow. Kiva's resentment towards Hallow, whom he blames for the Advanced Robot debacle, is palpable. As their battle commences, it initially appears evenly matched, but Kiva soon observes a newfound steadiness in the glow of Hallow's blade, a testament to Hallow's diminishing fear of the demons. In a swift turn of events, Hallow impales Kiva with his sword, catching the demon off guard. Infuriated by this unexpected show of strength — having underestimated Hallow as merely a diversion — Kiva taps into his might, launching a ferocious assault. Yet, Hallow withstands and counters, injuring Kiva and almost managing to attack him with a near-fatal strike.[10]

Reverting to his original form, Kiva takes to the skies, commanding his legions to subdue Hallow — not to slay, but to capture for interrogation regarding the newly emerged worlds.[11] The tide seems to turn as Hallow gains support from fellow humans Keila, Pakkya, and the mages, who join the fray against the demon horde.[12] Kiva, witnessing the prowess of Pakkya and Hallow, is taken aback by the presence of other formidable human warriors. Despite this, he proclaims the futility of their efforts, convinced the humans cannot alter the course of the battle.[13]

In an unexpected turn, the humans activate one of the artificial satellites, unleashing a barrage of laser beams that decimate the demon ranks on the battlefield. Kiva, bewildered, senses no mana from the assault above. He dismisses it as futile resistance. The laser beams halted abruptly, and Kiva let out a mocking laugh, confident that even with the humans' secret weapon, the demons maintained their supremacy. Yet, in an unexpected twist, the madalans descended from the sky, seizing Kiva's attention.[14] He ponders these enigmatic beings' identities. Hallow, now weary from combat, lunges at Kiva, who effortlessly blocks and gains the upper hand.[15] As Kiva prepares to deliver the final blow, Galua, a madalan, emits a shrill cry that disrupts the moment, infuriating Kiva. He turns his wrath upon Galua, robbed of the satisfaction of his nearing triumph.[16]

As the madalan approaches, Kiva resolves to obliterate the threat, recalling his prior skirmishes with the robots and vowing not to underestimate these extraterrestrial adversaries. With a devastating assault, he inadvertently slays some of his own demon troops.[17] After the onslaught, he aims to vanquish the hero, only to spot Pakkya fleeing with Hallow. Mocking their futile escape, Kiva strikes Pakkya's back, sending both tumbling to the ground.[18]

However, Kiva's triumph is short-lived as he notices that the aliens withstanded his previous attack. In a desperate bid for victory, the demon unleashes his full power, but to his dismay, he's effortlessly hurled into the human stronghold's strategy room by a single alien punch, stunning Zaybi and the others present.[19] Grievously injured and slipping into unconsciousness, Kiva contemplates his existence as life ebbs away. In the brink of death, Zaybi intervenes, infusing mana into Kiva, which speeds up the demon's regeneration, mending his fatal wounds and snatches him back from the jaws of death.[20]

Regaining consciousness, he instinctively shoves Zaybi aside. The mage captain, anticipating this, conjured a protective shield of magic. He urges the demon to calm down, yet Kiva, realizing he's encircled by humans, can't suppress his revulsion. Kiva asks Zaybi why he dared to disrespect him. Zaybi, with a smirk, advises Kiva to conserve his fresh mana reserves for more formidable foes than mere humans. Kiva prioritizes the alien threat, swoops down from the skies upon Galua, and relieving Hallow and Pakkya of their extraterrestrial adversary.[21][22]

Galua unleashes his Pew Pew Pew attack, only to be thwarted by Kiva's Beast King's Roar, much to the astonishment of the extraterrestrial onlookers. Kiva, cognizant of his limitations and the impossibility of single-handedly overcoming a madalan, summons backup with his Demon-Flute.[23] Swiftly, the 11th Division's Combat Executives — Bikkuk, Shinso, and Oppo — arrive on the battlefield, their prompt arrival raising Kiva's suspicions. They reveal that Lord Jachi has commanded them to ensure Kiva's safety, leading him to question Jachi's confidence in his ability to dispatch a mere hero. Bikkuk clarifies that Kiva's significance would be negligible if only humans were involved, but the emergence of the aliens has prompted Jachi to maintain vigilance.[24]

In unison, the demon executives launch an assault on Galua. Yet, their combined efforts falter as the alien effortlessly dominates them. Fortuitously, human mages bestow additional mana upon the demons, enabling a swift recovery from their grievous wounds. Observing this, Bikkuk inquires of Kiva about the moment he tamed the humans. Kiva dismisses it as a mere survival tactic by the humans, advising the demon executives to disregard them momentarily. His counsel is to prioritize their immediate threat: the alien adversary.[25]

In a fierce clash, the demon executives unite in their Burst forms to confront Galua, yet the alien prevails once more.[26] Enraged, Kiva unleashes the formidable Evil Maw's Roar in an attempt to strike Galua down, but the alien redirects the assault towards the unsuspecting humans. This dire turn of events compels Zaybi to cast his most potent defense, the Ultimate Mana Wall: Soul Shell spell, shielding humanity from the devastating blow.[27] Exhausted, the demon executives are on the ground as Galua mocks their efforts. Opting to conserve energy, the alien begins to depart, dismissing the demons as unworthy adversaries. However, Kiva, defiant to the end, insists the battle rages on. Galua retorts, questioning if Kiva ever truly perceived their skirmish as combat, and summons a colossal space warship, intent on obliterating everything — humans and demons alike. The sudden appearance of this overwhelming force leaves Kiva and his demon executive companions stunned, prompting a realization that they must alert Lord Jachi to this formidable new enemy that could challenge even their Great Demon King. But as the warship prepares to lay waste to the land, the mighty Daikokuzan emerges, effortlessly annihilating the vessel. The mega kaiju's entrance commands the awe of all, its sheer magnitude rendering them speechless.[28]

As the kaiju seizes the aliens' focus, the demons seize the moment to launch an assault.[29] Yet, the activation of the Grand Teleportation Magic Circle spell diverts Kiva's gaze momentarily, and the spell allows the humans to flee the collapsing stronghold.[30] This act disrupts the mana flow to the demons, effectively cutting off their additional power source.[31]

In the ensuing chaos, Hallow, Pakkya, Panepane, and Bastz fail to escape with the other humans. They hastily depart in Bastz's vehicle, leaving the chaos behind. The vehicle nearly capsizes as Kiva, descending abruptly from the heavens, lands upon it. When exhausted and injured Kiva wakes up, his eyes meet those of hero Hallow. In a desperate bid, he resolves to eliminate him. Yet, his strength fails him; he's too sluggish to act, and Pakkya expels him from the vehicle with a swift kick before he can strike. In the unfolding events, Kiva misplaces his Demon-Flute, which then falls into Hallow's possession. As the humans vanish into the distance, Kiva's gaze lingers on their retreat. He then shifts his attention to the nearby uproar, witnessing a kaiju obliterate what once stood as Humanity's Fortress, its colossal foot crushing demons beneath.[32] The alien forces decimate the demon executives, and the soldiers of the 11th Division flee in disarray. Surrounded by the unfolding devastation, Kiva comes to a profound realization: how hard it is to muster your courage when facing an enemy with overwhelming power.[33] Resigned to his fate, he reflects on the humans he has vanquished, contemplating their fortitude. With this in mind, he prepares to confront the alien threat, attempting to emulate the humans' valor in his final stand.[34]

Current Arc[]

When Jachi meets Uki, he notices Kiva's severed head lying on the ground next to his deceased demon soldiers.[35]

Abilities[]

Kiva, a formidable demon executive of the 11th Division, possesses immense power. His array of skills and robust physicality afford him a significant edge in combat, and his regenerative capabilities and enduring stamina enable him to withstand prolonged conflicts. He could defeat an Advanced Robot in an extended battle that left him heavily injured. He is capable of matching an exhausted and mentally distracted Hallow[36][37], though when the hero was well-rested and focused on the battle, Kiva was outmatched.[38] What's more, Kiva was utterly powerless against a Madalan, nearly dying after a single punch from Galua and later overpowered even with the help of three fellow combat executives.

Physical Abilities[]

  • Superhuman Strength: As a demon and a Captain of the Demon Army, his strength significantly exceeds those of a regular human and lower-level demons. He can effortlessly crush a powersuit-equipped human as well as stop and throw a military truck several meters away with one arm. He could casually stop a bullet from a special armor piercing round and flick it back fast enough to kill one of the members from the Anti-Machine Combat Forces. Most remarkably, Kiva destroyed an Advanced Robot that could quickly adapt to Zaybi's spells, though Kiva sustained serious injuries during the battle.
  • Superhuman Speed and Reflexes: Kiva possesses remarkable speed and reflexes, casually blocking shots from laser guns and even stopping a bullet from a special armor piercing gun.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Kiva is capable of fighting an extensive battle against Advanced Robot in spite of the grievous injuries he suffered during the battle.
  • Superhuman Durability: Kiva is much more durable than the average demon. This allows him to take on many blows without them being fatal, as long as he rests afterwards though. His durability even allows him to survive a single blow from a Madalan, though he had been greatly wounded and required mana from Zaybi to continue fighting.
  • Flight: Kiva has the ability to fly long-distances using his wings.

Special Abilities[]

  • Powerful Regeneration: He can regenerate a severed hand effortlessly within seconds. As long as Kiva has mana, his body recovers, with the more he has the faster his wounds close. Even a little mana is enough to help him recover from near death, but at the same time, little to no mana means his regeneration either slows or is halted until he either receives more or dies.
  • Body Control: Kiva has the ability to control his body, extending his arm like a whip in an attempt to grab Hallow.
  • Transformation: Kiva has the ability to undergo a transformation, drastically increasing his size and abilities. He first showcased this power when he fought against an Advanced Robot. He does this by screaming! "Burst!".

Techniques[]

  • Release:
  • Burst:
  • Evil Maw's Roar: Kiva can project an enormous energy beam with his roar.[39]
  • Beast King's Roar: By roaring combined with his magic, Kiva creates a protective dome around him to defend against attacks.[40]
  • Quartet of Deadly Evil: A formidable assault technique where the 11th Division's Combat Executives combine their power into one overwhelming blast. This attack is known for its incredible strength and extensive reach, capable of causing collateral damage to friend and foe alike due to its expansive area of effect.[41]
