The Madalans (マダラー (せい) (じん) Madarā seijin?) are an alien race that originate from Celestia. They are one of the thirteen natural enemies of humanity that are featured in Versus.

Appearance[]

The Madalans appear as a smooth, amorphous species that can alter their shape depending on the situation. Each of them possesses a circular head that levitates without a neck. Each of them has a heart engraved on their chests. Some possess halos or rings around their heads.

Characteristics[]

Due to their unique design, they can change the shape of their body to suit their needs. They can morph into a protective sphere that allows them to withstand the impact of falling from space.[1] According to Thear, any living organism in their vicinity will be eliminated.[2] They do this by rapidly attacking faster than any normal organism can see, slicing or punching enemies apart.

They are capable of transforming into a form called Space Plate to increase their power.[3] The Space Plate can be modified and used depending on the user's needs. Currently, two variations of the Space Plate transformation have been demonstrated. Space Plate: Shinra grants a Madalan gravity and spacial manipulation, while Space Plate: Brawns grants a Madalan a much larger and physically stronger body. Typically, Madalans prefer not to utilize this transformation to limit the damage to the environment they are investigating.

In Madalan society, they do not have rank or class. Though certain Madalans are assigned as team leaders, they operate as a collective and generally do not place blame on specific individuals for mistakes, preferring to take responsibility as a collective to further deepen their understanding of their enemies' combat capabilities.

They can communicate in differently languages if they wish to do so, though it takes time to find the right frequency.[4]

They claim that their bodies are composed of compressed information.[5]

Overall Strength[]

As a natural enemy, they have driven humanity in Celestia to near extinction despite their remarkable technological prowess. Madalans can quickly destroy large weaponized satellites put into orbit by the humans of Celestia.[6] According to Thear, just a single Madalan annihilated the Earth's Defense Force's Interstellar Space Fleet.[7] The Madalans possess circular spaceships capable of causing mass destruction to cities.[8] The Madalans themselves are durable enough to withstand falling from outer space, making a noticeable impact upon collision, and possess malleable bodies at the same time.[1]

One of the Madalans was capable of withstanding a full-powered attack from Kiva, a division captain of the Great Demon King Army, and could defeat him in his strongest state with a single blow.[9] This Madalan proceeded to annihilate swarms of demons before any of them could properly react, massacring many demons through quick successful attacks and laser eye beams. They can also fire energy attacks from their fingers and emit electricity from the symbol on their chest.

Hallow, upon witnessing their attacks and overwhelming strength, admits that their presence is similar to Demon Lord Jachi with their overwhelming strength.[10] This could imply that each one is on par with a regular Demon Lord. Even so, despite their vast power, a single one of them was unable to harm one of the Kaiju's due to the latter's immense size and durability.[11] Furthermore, Uki's battle with Jachi ended in its defeat despite entering its Space Plate: Shinra mode, indicating that the power of the Madalans is below that of a Demon Lord.[12]

History[]

At some point, the Madalans appeared in Celestia from outer space and began wiping out humanity. Humanity would send hundreds of weaponized satellites into space to try and combat the Madalans, but the aliens destroyed them, leaving only 26 still operational.[13] In a desperate attempt to save their world, the fighters of Celestia created a device to contact other worlds for help, merging their world with 12 others and bringing the Madalans with them.[14][15]

When Thear activated one of the satellites to target the demon army, the Madalans were alerted and destroyed the satellite. A group of Madalans would crash down to eradicate the organisms nearby.[1]

Upon arriving, the Madalans speak in a language nobody understands and walks across the battlefield with little regard. Kiva, in an attempt to be rid of them, attacks one in belief he'd kill it, only to later realize it survived. After attempting to attack it again, Kiva was defeated soundly in one hit and greatly wounded. Many demons attempted to attack in retribution only to be killed themselves without any problem.

Eventually, after killing many demons, the Madalan begins speaking in their language and begins asking questions, willing to spare a few if they comply. When the demons refused, the Madalans as a group gather and kill them. The gathered Madalans then speak of their confusion on the demons appearances and claim they came to ascertain just what happened for the Earth to change so radically, believing it to be humanity's final desperate struggle. They then attempt communication again, with the demons being fearful.[16]

After Kiva got healed by Zaybi in order to even their odds of survival against the Madalans, he flies through the roof of the human base, enraged by his defeat against the Madalan Galua. Kiva then attacks Galua from above, which Galua blocks easily. Galua tries to kill Kiva using his eye beams, but Kiva negates this with an attack of his own named "Beast Kings Roar", which the Madalans are impressed by. In a desperate attempt to defeat the Madalans, Kiva uses a Demon Flute to call upon his fellow combat executives.

The miniships summoned by the Madalans are then destroyed by the arriving 11th Division Combat Executives, Oppo, Bikkuk and Shinso, who immediately engage the Madalan Galua with Kiva's help. Zaybi and the other mages then supply the Demon Combat Executives with their mana so that they can hold the Madalans back long enough for the teleportation spell to finish.[17]

Although outnumbered, Galua easily holds his own against the Demons. After the supplied Mana from the Humans has ceased, the Combat Executives are visibly exhausted, but before Galua can finish them, he is told by another Madalan named Pow to better spend his time elsewhere and to finish their business there. Galua agrees and pulls out a device similar to a remote control from the heart symbol on his chest, which he then uses to call upon a gargantuan Madalan ship. Galua commands the ship to decimate the land, leaving the humans and demons in awe and absolute despair. Before the ship can fire its cannons, it is destroyed by a massive Kaiju, which shocks everyone present, including the Madalans.[18] The Kaiju is stated by the humans of the Disastrous Metropolis World to be the Kaiju Daikokuzan. The Madalan Pow then tries to pierce Daikokuzan's brain, dismissing Galua's comments on Daikokuzan's strength. Much to the surprise of the Madalans, Pow's attack has no effect on Daikokuzan, resulting in him crashing down into the ground. The 11th Division Combat Executives use this opportunity to engage the Madalans in battle once more.[19]

Sensing the Teleportation Spell from the humans, Galua fires a small energy beam at the human base to prevent them from leaving, which is redirected in the last moment by Hallow, allowing the humans to escape. Galua remarks that they need to finish what they came here for and gather more information for future battles against Daikokuzan and other possible threats. With the appearance of a lifeform such as Daikokuzan, Galua states the importance of having the planet for themselves.

The other Madalans then proceed to kill the demons, including the 11th Division Combat Executives, with Kiva being the last one to remain. Kiva, while in despair at his hopeless situation, finally understands how exceptional the hero Hallow is, questioning how Hallow could muster his courage when faced with an overwhelmingly powerful opponent. Being aware that his last moments have come, Kiva transforms into his "Burst" form and charges at the Madalans, remarking that the fate of the demons now lies in Jachi's hands.[20]

After the battle has finished, Uki is left behind by the other Madalans to finish gathering all the remaining information. Uki notices something unusual approaching him from behind, which turns out to be the corpse of Gori, the Titan that was previously punched and sent flying by the 11th Demon King Jachi. Suddenly Jachi appears at the scene, apparently having followed Gori. He immediately notices the corpses and remains of his army, including Kiva's dismembered head. After confronting Uki about his involvement in the destruction of his army, Uki, having no time to deal with other Demons, impatiently attacks Jachi.

The two of them clash, with Uki noticing Jachi's incredible strength and assuming him to be the King of the Demons. After a fierce exchange of blows, Uki's body has taken damage. Surprised by his opponent's power, Uki changes his form into Space Plate: Shinra. Even after many attacks from Uki in his new form, Jachi is still unharmed, telling Uki to not let him down now. Jachi removes his armor with Uki noticing the sudden increase in Jachi's biological stats, realizing the armor had been consuming Jachi's energy to hide his power.

An enraged Uki realizes that the Demon King toyed with him this whole time. In the following engagement, Uki is completely outclassed, his body having taken heavy damage from Jachi's attacks. Sensing danger, Uki tries to flee from Jachi, all the while trying to establish communications with Galua to inform him of the danger the Demons pose. Jachi then easily catches up to the fleeing Uki. The fight then cuts off to Galua and the other Madalan Team Leaders, who are having a discussion on board the Madalan Mothership stationed in Earth's orbit. They discuss the danger the encountered natural enemies pose to them with only Daikokuzan and maybe Nature posing a threat, dismissing all other natural enemies as not worthy of bigger attention. While the danger of the Demons is discussed, the present Madalans agree to the Demons being nothing special, considering the Demon Combat Executives being easily defeated by them. The scene cuts off to Jachi's and Uki's fight again, with Uki being beaten up by Jachi and his body gradually falling apart. Uki, having transformed into his normal form again, tries to crawl to safety only to be relentlessly attacked by Jachi, who mockingly imitates Uki's previous attacks. With Uki lying defeated on the ground before him, Jachi turns his back, excitedly having realized that creatures of this level are roaming the lands.

In a final desperate attempt to kill Jachi, Uki transforms into a new, bulky form called Space Plate: Brawns, only for a fist to pierce him from behind, surprising Jachi and finally killing Uki. It is revealed that the fist belongs to none other than Ginbak, the tribal chief of the Titans, who appears to be in search of Gori's killer.[12]
