Bastz (バスツ Basutsu?) is a human from the Cursed Lands.

Appearance[]

Bastz wears a black hazmat suit that covers the entire body, including his face.

Personality[]

Bastz is pretty pessimistic and seems to have a dark sense of humor. This pessimism caused by only seeing death and decay allows him to marvel at the sight of Demons and Madalans fighting when other humans are hiding in the fortress. Bastz also has a shady side to him, as seen when the King reveals Bastz has done something before he passes away and a parasite pops out. It's later revealed that what he administered to the King was the MD-R-13, a soul container that could drain a person's life force and slow down the symptoms of the parasite or other illnesses. He only lied to the others since Bastz believes they wouldn't have trusted him or understood his reasoning. He administered the same treatment to Shirokaki upon discovering he'd been infected by a parasite, demonstrating his previous actions weren't out of malice but merely attempting to help with the tools he had.

Plot[]

Introduction Arc[]

Bastz is present alongside humans from other worlds during the meeting.[1]

Titans vs The Neo-Humans Arc[]

The next day, Bastz reveals the King was inflicted with the curse and there's no cure for it.[2]

Demons vs Aliens Arc[]

Bastz observes the ailing human king, who lies weakened on his bed, and remarks on the apparent lack of resilience in humans from other worlds, confirming his previous suspicions. After his contemplation, he departs, leaving the sovereign in solitude amidst his illness.[3] Later, Bastz stands beyond the walls of the fortress with his gaze fixed on the chaotic dance of conflict between the madalans and demons. To him, this is not merely a battle; it is the essence of existence clashing vibrantly, a sight he deems to be the epitome of beauty.[4]

As the last of humanity fled the crumbling fortress using the Grand Teleportation Magic Circle, Bastz remains, along with Hallow, Panepane, and Pakkya. In the midst of chaos, they shields Bastz from a demon assault. Unaware of the imminent danger, Bastz is startled by the demons' presence, which he failed to detect. Concerns arise about other humans potentially stranded within the fortress but Bastz reassures the group with his device's lack of biological signals, confirming their solitude. Bastz discovers a demon clinging to life. Seizing this opportunity, he employs a Soul Container to harvest its soul, ingeniously converting his device into a makeshift vehicle, ensuring their escape. With introductions exchanged, Bastz's identity becomes known to the trio. Initially bewildered by the contraption, Hallow, Pakkya, and Panepane soon finds themselves aboard, speeding away from the pandemonium as the Madalans decimate the Great Demon King Army's 11th Division.

Their escape, however, is almost jeopardized when Kiva's unexpected descent nearly capsizes their vehicle. Pakkya's quick reflexes averted disaster, and Kiva is promptly ejected as they continues their escape. The journey takes a dire turn when the vehicle's fuel is depleted, leaving most of its passengers in disbelief. As the monstrous Daikokuzan lays waste to the fortress and demons around it, it turns its gaze towards the humans. With no other choice, the humans and support fairy abandon the vehicle and fled on foot.[5]
