Hello friends! I have missed y'all! Are you enjoying Fall? I am so happy it has cooled off and I get to wear my favorite cardigan all the time! Cooler temps, sweaters, and boots make my heart sing! I've been enjoying warm drinks and watching videos on YouTube. I have found a few kindred spirits there that share my love of so many things. One day soon I will share some of those lovely souls with y'all.
I found the most delicious bread, at Trader Joe's, the other day!
It is Maple Streusel bread and it is so good with a big ol' spoonful of real butter smeared on it! Of course you simply must have a cup of hot coffee and a good book to read when you have a treat this yummy! The book is one I found in the Young Adult section at my library and I have to say, it is well worth reading! Just when you think you have it figured out you suddenly realize that you don't. This was one that made me legit-ly say, "Dang! I didn't see that coming!". Don't ever think that just because a book is for kids, or young adults, that it won't be a good read! You will be pleasantly surprised! I guarantee!
So the coffee I was drinking was one of my Fall favorites! I say Fall fav because it is a bit heavy for spring and summer, but on the cooler days of Fall and the gray days of Winter, it will sooth your soul!
Chicory in coffee is something that was a big part of my childhood! My parents loved coffee. If it was strong and hot, all the better! I remember my first taste of this wonderful coffee...it was NOT wonderful! I didn't care for it at all but over the years I have developed quite the love for chicory coffee!
This year, we are decorating our Christmas tree with only things we either find or make. I spent a little time making dried orange slices. My little house smelled so sweet! I will be doing more as the month wears on. Probably add some grapefruit, lemons, and maybe some limes. Oh and we will definitely string some popcorn and cranberries! One of my favorite Christmas memories from my childhood is the one when Mama decided to do just what I am doing! I will have to share that story some time. Of all the Christmas' I have lived through, that one is and always will be my favorite! For many reasons!
Do you remember hot cocoa from your childhood? Not the powdery pre-fabbed junk you find on the store shelves today! I'm talking hot milk with a bit of cocoa powder, or a chocolate bar, stirred in? I found myself craving the yummy-ness of such a concoction and made myself some. That first sip brought back so many memories! From childhood till now, I have loved the occasional cup. Mmmm...so warming and relaxing! The warm milk aids in falling asleep but the cocoa gives you sweet dreams! That's what I believe, anyhow! As you can see, I really have been enjoying those hot drinks...a lot!
I suppose I've rambled on long enough! Before I go, I want to share a pic of the sweetest kids...EVER!
Be still my heart! My grandbabies are my life and they are precious right down to their sweet little pinkie toes!
Thank you for stopping by and gracing me with your beautiful selves!
Grace & Peace,
