Happy Thanksgiving from my home to yours.  God bless.

Sunday, November 24, 2013

A dear lady and friend, has issued a challenge for our church.  She bought, everyone, simple little bracelets and asked that we use them to remind us not to complain for 30 days.  Boy did this hit home.  I don't like to complain, however, with all the pain I am in on a daily basis and our immediate and extended families constantly bickering and making foolish choices, it is very difficult not to complain.  I took the bracelet and the challenge.  I will wear it all the time, every where I go.

As I was thinking about this challenge, I came to the conclusion that there are lots of areas where I need work.  I need to remember what I was taught about speaking ill of someone.  "If you can't say something good, don't say anything at all".  I heard that all of my childhood.  Somehow it is very easy to forget that.  I will need a bracelet for that.

Then I thought about all the negative, that goes through my mind, every day.  I need to replace the negative with positive thoughts and always look for the good in every situation, and then thank God for it...  Yes, I will need a bracelet for that, as well.

Oh and as I sit here writing this post, I thought about the many times I have intended to pray for someone, or tell someone about Jesus, and forgot to do it.   There should be nothing more important than sharing the Gospel with a person who doesn't know him or lifting a friend or family member up in prayer, when they are sick, hurting, struggling, or simply having a bad day.  Don't we expect others to pray for us when we are dealing with these things?   I will definitely need a bracelet for this.

By this time, I realize I will have an arm full of bracelets...maybe both arms.  There are many areas, in my life, that I need to work on, other than the ones I wrote about...  A lot!  I am taking this bracelet challenge very seriously.  I want to win!

Month of Thanksgiving -- Day 13

SMELL

I am thankful for the smell of the coffee, on a cold, blustery morning.  There is something about it that warms your soul.

Month of Thanks -- Day 12

I am thankful for my sisters and brother.  They definitely made life interesting!  I wish  I had a picture of all of them so I could post it here.  I live so far from them and rarely get to visit.  Sometimes I wish we all lived closer but most of the time I'm glad we don't. LoL... just kidding!  I do miss them all terribly.

Month of Thanks -- Day 8

FOOD
I am thankful for plenty of food to eat.  I am also thankful for having a Daddy who loved to cook.  I am also thankful for a Mama who could squeeze more meals out of our food supply, than any person I know.  They taught me well!

Month of Thanks -- Day 7

JOB

My "job" is not really a job.  I keep my grand daughter while her parents work.  I have since she was born.  She is high spirited, funny, and a bit sassy!  My other "job" is taking care of our home and being a help meet, to my husband.  I do not consider any of this a job.  It is what I do.  It is what I love.  These "jobs" are my life and I am blessed!

Month of Thanks -- Day 5

TOUCH

Today, I am thankful for the TOUCH of my precious grand daughter.

Month of Thanks -- Day 4

Animals

Today, I am thankful for all my animals.  They are always excited to see me.  They love me unconditionally.  They do not judge me or always tell me that I am wrong.  I am not threatened by them.  My animals calm my mind.  Their needs, nurture my spirit.

Month of Gratitude -- Day 3

FREEDOM

I am thankful I live in a country where I have the FREEDOM to worship my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Month of Thanks

I see, and participate in, the Month of Gratitude, every year.  This year I decided to do it a bit differently.  Every day will have a specific thing to be thankful for.  Take a picture of something that represents the word, on the corresponding date, and then post it. Then explain why you are thankful for that particular item.

I hope that explains it well enough.  Please feel free to join in.  I would love to see your Month of Gratitude posts.

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."
