Gotta say, I liked this more than I thought I would! Dafoe is such a great addition to this. I would love to see a ghost of the week type show with his character.
The filmmaking aspect of this is very tasteful. Legacy actors present and not present are handled with care and thoughtfully. The practical effects are absolutely gorgeous and a breath of fresh air. The score is expanded on from the first film very nicely. The new cast is great and very funny as well as the returning characters. I have a very big complaint that stops this from being a 4 or higher for me. Scene pacing. The movie is paced nicely but they spent way too much time on some early scenes that cause later scenes to be incredibly short. The 3rd act is a small portion of the film and is somewhat a disappointment. The big bad isn't really that much of a threat. Very sad to see but it didn't kill my enjoyment of the film overall. I think this is a return to form for Burton and gives me some hope for what he does next. Gonna leave it at that as I know the majority have not been able to see this yet but just know this is another good one for 2024 (this year really needed it)
