I! love! colorful movies!
I actually grew up watching the cartoon a lot as a kid, didn't watch the original movie til I was in college. Became a fan of the Broadway musical shortly after the cast recording was released. But honestly when I think of Beetlejuice I do automatically just picture the cartoon.
I think this one managed to be a pretty good sequel, honestly! I somehow avoided pretty much every trailer except the initial announcement one, so all I knew going in was that Lydia's daughter was a focal point of this one. Very glad I went in essentially blind, I had a great time.
The only thing that I thought was kind of tacked-on was Delores, like her whole subplot could have been easily cut from the film (I guess we needed her to stop Betelgeuse in the end), but the sequence of her pulling herself back together was cool. I want a spinoff of Willem Dafoe's character, what a delight.
