A film that both honours its 80s wacky roots whilst injecting some modernity and theatricality. Despite my least favourite scenes in the first film being those that Betelgeuse is on the scene, my favourite character in this was Betelgeuse. Keaton brought back the same dirty, sleepy and humourous Betelgeuse that most people loved from the original, but brings a needed level of calm to the performance that I appreciated immensely. Unfortunately, although I prefer the Betelgeuse scenes in this film, I prefer the story and non-Betelgeuse scenes from the original. I can't have my cake and eat it it too I guess.
Another October staple for years to come. If you enjoyed the original, get out to your local cinema and watch this before it leaves!
