Josh Gillam’s review published on Letterboxd:
Shane Black co-writes and directs this neo-noir black comedy-thriller starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, about an enforcer and a private detective who team up to find a missing girl in 1970s Detroit. It was really entertaining, with both Crowe and Gosling playing really well against type, giving comedic performances that work really well together. Black crafts a witty, quirky and dark detective film that I really liked, although I thought it went on for a bit too long and the plot was a bit convoluted. Nevertheless, the rapport between the leads and a distinctive style make this film stand out, and I really enjoyed it.
