Finishing off my L.A. comedy noir/detective/odyssey trio (incl. Lebowski & Inherent Vice) is a perfect Shane Black trip. I think I've watched this baby about 10 times now and I like it better each time. It moves so fast and the jokes deliver a huge punching laugh each time. The party set piece in the middle that ties everything together is immaculate. This may be Gosling's best role in that he is full of energy and is a dad, detective, friend, ladies man, drinker but not yet alcoholic, Nice Guy but also good with the bad guys.
