At first I didn't think this film was going to be worth it. It started a bit slow if you ask me. But as the film went along it definitely grew on me, and by the time you reach the last act, it's almost like you're already well invested into the story. Haven't seen a lot of movies with Russell Crowe or Ryan Gosling but this one actually surprised me, so much that I might have to check out more of each other's work. Once I saw Angourie Rice in this I thought to myself "Where have I seen this girl before", after looking her up after the movie, and realized I remembered her while she starred in a movie called "Everyday", which is a good film nonetheless. Anyways, it's definitely an interesting watch. I'd like to see a sequel to this, but as it being nearly five years old, without a sequel being mentioned, I doubt we'll get one, but if they ever made a sequel for this, I'd be more than down. It also has a real deep ass element to it. Like when Holly asks Healy if he killed the man with the blue face, and he was like "Nah I didn't". Then Holly went "Good, I knew you couldn't do something like that". You could see the guilt briefly swarm Healy's face. Subtle moments like those in movies are what make a movie in my opinion. They add depth to the story, add more depth to the characters, and overall shows a different side of a somewhat one-sided character. They named this movie The Nice Guys, and before watching this movie I thought it was going to be like one of them cops duo that appeared in the movie Dragged Across Concrete, but after watching this movie, I can say that they actually nice guys. Well, I guess it depends on you ask I guess. Feel bad that I slept on this movie for nearly five years, but this definitely surprised me. Might even become one of my all time favorites, who knows.
