It's a leap of faith. That's all it is, Miles. A leap of faith.
Rating hasn't changed.
+ When Teen Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) becomes the Spider-Man of his universe, he soons finds out the responsibilities that comes with wearing the mask when the appearance of other spider-powered individuals shows up in his universe and soon, they must team up to stop the threat of Kingpin (Liev Schreiber).
Not going to lie, but I had major doubts when revisiting this, wondering if I got on the hype train and it wouldn't hold up. As this will count as my only second veiwng of it, the other being when I saw this in cinemas back in December '18. But any doubts I had quickly vanished from the opening few seconds.
This film still f*****g rocks!!! OMFG!!! The leap of faith scene is one of the best comic book scenes OF ALL TIME!!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!
This is the perfect evidence of what exactly is an comic book film is all about. Because this has the look and the feels of an comic book, and it's made to look like an comic book has come to life on the big screen.
The many different animation styles that is being used is phenomenal, the mixing and blending is incredible. It's eye popping, it's eye candy. It's what the term L.O.V.E is all about. This is why this is one of the best animated films of the 2010's, because it different. And making the background seem like 3D without the glasses. Absolute chef kiss!! I know it gets some used to, but believe me what ever is happening on the front makes you forget it. The action sequences are beautiful to look at and impactful.
The story is very self aware and moving. The whole mulit-verse storyline is perfect for animation. Going from the whole origin story which we know, to making fun of the previous incarnations of Spider-Man, the humour is spot on everytime and the reason why, because this has Phil Lord (who wrote the script) and Christopher Miller's stamp all over it. You can just feel the witty & sarcastic vibe and energy they brought. It's quirky as hell. And that's why it's perfect.
The voice talent is phenomenal. I dont know what other word to use. Shameik Moore as Miles is wonderful and can make him very likable as an person. Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker is great, I really like his interpretation of Parker. We definitely needed more Nic Cage's noir Spider-Man though, probably my favourite character from the film. Everyone else does an really good job here I can't really criticise any of the voice work.
The music, both original and the licenced songs are astonishing to the point where its memorable. Especially Post Molane's efforts towards the project.
'Spider-Man: Into the spider-verse' is an perfect comic book film that has jaw dropping stunning animation, perfect storytelling and an great cast. There is an reason why I can only describe this by one word..... phenomenal. I really need to rewatch this offen. I can't believe that in an few days we are getting an live action multi-verse film. ❤️
P.S. This has the best Stan Lee cameo appearance to ever exist.
