Although I would have preferred this just be a serial killer film rather than the supernatural route it took (although that may be my fault for going in with the wrong expectations), Longlegs is a very impressive achievement of horror filmmaking.
I loved the visceral feeling this film created, you can feel evil lurking in every scene in the film, whether that be through the framing of shots or the menacing sound design, the film succeeds at creating an uneasy atmosphere.
Maika Monroe cements herself as a modern icon of the horror icon and Nic Cage’s performance is terrifying in a way I’ve never seen before.
All in all, it’s excellent to see an original horror film like this doing so well (my theatre was packed!) and there is a lot to love about this, I’ll definitely be revisiting at some point because I think there’s a lot to unpack here.
