I've not read any of the reviews yet as I often don't when I'm excited or definitely going to see something as I don't want it to skew anything. Looking forward to reading them in a minute, or maybe 10 as I've had a couple, 8 drinks since I saw it and keep having to delete typos :P At first I was a little unsure as this was just full comedy from the off. The first has such sad moments that still move me to this day. There's none of that here, even Lydia's Dads death is just a big joke. And after a bit I got it, you can't just repeat the first film and that's when I really got into it.
I found how flawlessly Michael Keaton played that character decades after downright freaky. That was brilliant. And I love Winona Ryder, I'm so happy to see her up there on the big screen as the big star again. Loved the practical effects, the CGI was a little bit wanky tbh tho. I also loved that Halloween was in it <3 My biggest negative was the ex wife plot, like the part when she put herself back together was funny and I get they needed a thread for Beetlegeuse but yeah that was definitely a meh for me.
Yeah, a whole lot of my joy with this film was nostalgia, I mean the minute that first note hit my tits just involuntarily bounced into the air. But so what, lick it up baby, lick it up. Oh wrong Winona film :P Anyway I was heading for 3 and half stars with this but then THAT SCENE!!! Someone left the cake out in the raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn was next level amazing. The Priscilla Queen of the Desert stage musical is brilliant but the absolute best, most hilarious bit of that show is a scene with that song. Never did I think I would see such a fantastic funny scene in a film with it. Me and hubby were laughing like friggin' lunatics in that cinema.
