The Juice is loose!
The long awaited sequel has arrived. And did not disappoint, in a Tim Burton fashion. Particularly the stop-motion animation.
Michael Keaton returns at the titular character (no, will not say his name); still as obscene and insane as before.
Whereas Winona Ryder returns as the now much older and wiser Lydia Deetz, this time with a daughter of her own (played by the beautiful Jenna Ortega) who is just as moody and cynical as she was.
The film also explains what happened to the Maitlands (given that the actors are old, and one of them is facing charges, but still...).
I think at the end of it all, it was more about a story of mother and daughter mending a broken relationship. It's somewhat sentimental.
My only one critism about the film though is that it was released on September and not the following month, because this clearly has the hallmarks of Halloween. And it isn't the first time the cinema chains have chosen to release certain films on different months and not the right ones, amd that always annoys me.
Plus, I felt there should've been more screentime for Monica Bellucci - she had the duo package of scary and sexy!
But seriously, though; the main plot it outta been focused more on her revenge against...you know who...rather than Lydia marrying her tool of a boyfriend, or the daughter meeting the ghost boy.
And I did suspected that boy was a ghost, mind you, but I wouldn't have thought he would turn out bad.
The while film was good, up until the twist at the end though... ...WTF?! I know that this has a horror theme to it, but it didn't felt like a Tim Burton scene. It felt that one part of the film was finished by Eli Roth!
All the same, I'll give a good four stars anyway.
