the most energetic i’ve felt Burton’s work be in at least ten years. that inventive, wry sense of humor of his has been missing and it’s finally back here. i laughed way more than i expected to. overstuffed no question, but not enough to outweigh the fun of all the jokes and gags. wisely uses way more of Catherine O’Hara and she’s hilarious, Winona and Jenna clearly love the movies and their chemistry is apparent, Willem Dafoe has great bits and he kills all of them, Burn Gorman most underrated, Michael Keaton still the king.
