Burn and twist. Lovingly crafted frames of dark anxiety inducing malevolence and yellowed liminal spaces that give way to violent red hues, wet and pulsing and maniacal. The story itself is almost a secondary character, a bit role, lost in its own structure. Perkins has a master's eye, cold and waxy and pale while Cage himself has become a thing of nightmares. The devil truly is in the details it seems. A burrowing and malignant beauty all the same. And for once it didn't take me two years to catch a modern movie. Hail Satan.
