Cage will never fail to surprise me, and in this role as a deformed piece of darkness I just wished for more. Is that terrible thing to say since he’s a full on demon of creepiness?
Hey Cinephiles, the film that has been sending shivers to all of your favourite friends and critics is finally reached our cinemas. Let’s see if we have a stronger defense than them, hint, we probably don’t. Here’s my review for Longlegs.
The wide lens adds to the constant unnerving sensations it will send you on, some of the shots were gorgeously terrifying, anything could shock you into fear and pop out just break you down. Oz Perkins has an impeccable eye with his camera, every space of the frame wishes and invites you in to be analysed.
If the visuals won’t shock you, my lord the score is masterful in delivering that sense of dread at every moment. Combining that with Monroe’s power of commanding our eyes to the investigation and Cage domineering the screen with his time, this movie is ruthless at hammering away at our borders of horror.
The final act started to lose itself as it delved deeper into the connections between the story and the religious thematic aspects, still captured the haunting justice they wanted but for a satisfying conclusion it struggled to commit.
A truly anxiety creation of complexity which ingrains itself into your brain and eyes, blinding any sense of freedom and peace you thought you held.
