Overview

"The Jungle Car" is the 2nd episode of Season 3 of Infinity Train and the 22nd episode overall. It aired on August 13, 2020.

Synopsis[]

Grace and Simon look on the bright side and hope that this will be like a mini-vacation from their responsibilities as leaders of The Apex.

Plot[]

Separated from the Apex and minus one of their harpoon packs, Grace and Simon take stock of their situation and supplies, before deciding to explore the car, where the flora and fauna appear to light up when touched. Grace urges Simon to loosen up instead of worrying about their situation too much. During their exploration, the two hear a loud noise from the forest that causes some damage to the environment, including knocking down some trees, so they decide to trap and destroy whatever "Null"(denizen) is making the noise.

This plan fails when the mysterious denizen destroys their trap and subsequently captures them. After scaring and tickling them both, It reveals itself to be a gorilla with two massive tubas attached to the shoulders named Tuba, accompanied by a playful little girl named Hazel. Simon attempts to invite Hazel to the Apex, but his harsh approach prompts Tuba to try to attack him, only to be held back by Hazel. Grace takes a less aggressive approach, earning Hazel and Tuba's (begrudging) trust. Noticing the number on Hazel's hand (337) does not glow, Simon suspects One-One tried to hide Hazel from them. Grace invites Hazel to join the Apex where she can learn more about her numbers and play with other kids. Hazel excitedly agrees, but expresses reluctance when Grace and Simon claim Tuba cannot come with them. Realizing Tuba is too much of a threat at the moment, Grace claims that Tuba can join them while privately telling Simon they will ditch her before they reach the car. Tuba reluctantly agrees to join Hazel while giving Grace and Simon a suspicious glare, before they prepare to head on their journey.

Trivia[]

  • The Jungle Car is the same car Tulip was seen entering in the poster for Book One. Whether or not she canonically visited this car is unknown.[1]
  • Strangely, this episode ends with a white-out instead of the normal black-out used in most episodes.
  • End tag: Simon and Grace's hands are joined by those of Tuba and Hazel's, prominently showing their numbers (and lack thereof), against the background of the Jungle Car's ground. Hazel's hand waves playfully.

Continuity[]

  • Hazel, despite apparently being a passenger, did not show up on Simon's scan of the train cars for passengers in the previous episode.
  • Simon holds a chubby bunny record. His history with the game is referenced later in episode 9.
