"The Corgi Car" is the 3rd episode of Season 1 of Infinity Train and the 3rd episode overall. It aired on August 6, 2019.
Synopsis[]
Tulip and One-One explore a car full of Corgis and face off against a mysterious monster.
Plot[]
A week has passed since Tulip's number changed to 109. Deciding she cannot waste any more time, she resolves to not stop for anything and sprints through the Keyboard Car, the Cross-Eye Ducks Car, the Monster Dance Car, and the Ancient Temple Car, refusing to stop and ignoring the various inhabitants. She finally takes a breather in a car inhabited by a kingdom of Corgis. The king of the corgis, Atticus, welcomes them to Corginia and offers Tulip a tour, which she reluctantly accepts.
Tulip is impressed by Corginian society, but decides she and One-One need to move on. Atticus explains the next door is across a river and through the woods and supposedly unsolvable. Tulip decides to continue anyway, but they are interrupted by "the Monster," a mysterious shadow creature that has been causing floods in Corginia for a week. Atticus explains the corgis cannot fight the monster by themselves because they are too small to cross the river without drowning. Tulip agrees to assist Atticus in stopping the monster, thinking it might be connected to the fact her number has also not changed in a week.
The trio make their way to the door, where they discover the monster is caused by a glowing orb casting a shadow on a normal spider, which Atticus promptly eats. Noticing this did not change anything about the flood waters or her number, Tulip angrily complains about her lack of progress in escaping. Atticus comforts her by offering her some advice about how she is still finding solutions for some problems, including helping his kingdom, and she gives him a friendly belly rub. They soon wonder what the glowing orb is actually for, and discover the real monster: a robot with numerous tentacles called the Steward that is stealing the orbs that apparently power the environment of the car. Tulip suggests they escape through the unsolvable puzzle door, only to learn the corgis simply do not know how to open doors, hence why they cannot open it. One-One tries to greet the monster, but it promptly opens fire on them and injures Atticus when he tries to attack. It then confronts Tulip by loudly telling her to return to her seat. Atticus restores the orbs, stopping the floodwaters, while Tulip tries to get away from the Steward. One-One chides the Steward and starts singing and dancing to try to cheer it up. Noticing One-One, the Steward promptly leaves the car, to Tulip's confusion.
Tulip's number descends to 101, though she accepts that she does not know why yet. Atticus declares that Corginia will never be safe while the Steward is still around and asks to join Tulip on her journey to stop the monster (and also because Tulip gives stellar belly rubs), which she accepts. Having gained a friend and ally, Tulip decides she would rather not rush through the next car.

Trivia[]
- The Monster Dance Car lampoons the "Monster Mash" complete with its own song called "Boogie Bash," although this song is not heard in its entirety in the episode: it is available on the Book 1 soundtrack.
- Tulip getting chased by a boulder is a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- End tag: Tulip's hand, against a backdrop of the Wasteland, with her number rapidly changing.
Continuity[]
- A week has passed since the events of "The Beach Car."
- The Steward's exit from the car is prompted by One-One's appearance and his singing a song derived from the Infinity Train theme. The crew refers to it as "Chekhov's tones."[1]
Behind the scenes[]

"It's gone. I'm excited! Aah!" Re-used shot from the pilot.

Another re-used shot: note Tulip's silhouette is her design from the pilot.

"CORGINIA!" Note the Steward's hole from the pilot episode in the background of this shot.
- This episode is a complete remake of the pilot, with minor changes to some dialogue to fit it within the context of the plot and the addition of some jokes, many of which according to Owen Dennis were actually cut from the original pilot script for length.[1] A number of shots (namely ones where Tulip is off-camera, due to her different design) and voiceover audio are pulled directly from the pilot:
- Much of Chrome Canyon's score for this episode
- Two lines of Tulip and Atticus's first exchange, specifically where he calls himself the "King and Uniter of the Cardigans and the Pembrokes," and Tulip describes liking books.
- Tulip and Atticus's exchange regarding things Atticus has not told her about Corginia, "Like why there's a giant shadow monster?!"
- "Yes...patience, young lady!"
- Tulip telling Glad-One to be careful
- The shot of Glad-One peeking his head in and exclaiming "Agh!" and explaining why he's excited
- The audio from the "wanna go outside?" gag[2]
- The audio of Tulip and Atticus crossing the river
- A very quick silhouetted shot of the group climbing a hill (easily identifiable due to Tulip sporting her design from the pilot)
- One-One saying, "We're grossed out, right Miss Tulip?"
- The shot and audio of Atticus running towards the Steward before it attacks him (the hole in the car that the Steward used in the pilot is visible in the background of this shot, creating a small continuity error)
- The Steward's line "Return to your seat!"
- At one point in development, this episode began with an elaborate scene set to music where the camera would zoom around Tulip and then out a window to a broader view of the train, revealing the various other passengers onboard. This would have confirmed the existence of other humans onboard the train before it was eventually revealed in "The Cat's Car."[1]
- Justin Michael describes his role for this episode as "beefing out" the original pilot script as written by Owen Dennis, with the bulk of his work being the cars Tulip runs through, including the Cross-Eyed Ducks Car. He expected his half-baked temporary ideas to be removed when the writers thought of better cars (they did not). He also created Ugly Irwin, which he found to be his "greatest contribution."[1]
- One of Michael's unused ideas was the corgis gathering in a pagoda and fighting the Steward as an army. It was dropped because it would have been too difficult to animate.[1]
- One-One continuing to make shadow puppets in the background of Tulip reacting to the shadow monster was a throw-in by the animation director Robert Alvarez, who felt One-One needed to be doing something.[1]
- In the pilot and in the original script, the Steward was repairing the car from a meteorite that had crashed through the roof. The orbs were developed partly to give the Steward something to scavenge for its superior, to be revealed in the finale.[1]
- Tulip's eraser on her pencil was changed from a frog (in the pilot, a reference to Over the Garden Wall) to an onion, to reflect her love of onions.[1]
- The Steward's first line of dialogue to Tulip ("Return to your seat!") references an unused concept from the original first episode: when Tulip originally arrived on the train, she woke up to find herself seated in a car full of passengers who were staring at TV screens.
Errors[]
- Tulip's number is missing on her palm in many instances:
- Throughout her time at the Crossed-Eye Ducks Car.
- When she runs past the monsters at the Monster Dance Car.
- While she's swinging on a vine at the Ancient Temple Car.
- When she enters the Corgi Car.
- Before she picks up a chew-toy to distract the corgis.
- During the scene when she said, "No more sunbeams. No more distracting, but admittedly fun dog stuff".
- When she first noticed the snowcloud.
- When she, Atticus, and One-One all hide behind a boulder.
- In one frame when she complains, "No water! No number!". And not only that, but the green glow is layered underneath her hand.
- Before she rubs Atticus's belly.
- When the Steward trips her.
- When Atticus said, "We just get really excited when someone new comes through the door", his fangs are transparent for four frames.
- In one frame while Tulip said, "That's how long it's been since my number changed!", the green glow isn't align correctly from underneath her palm and it floats in mid-air.
- When Tulip facepalms, the number on her palm doesn't glow.
- Due to the reuse of footage from the pilot, the hole in the roof from the pilot is visible in the shot of Atticus running towards the Steward.
- While Atticus replaces one of the removed orbs, a part of his crown turned green.
