"The Search for Skellig Ro" is the first segment of the eighteenth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on July 24, 2015, alongside "Endangered Species".

Plot[]

On the Holo-course, Miles and Loretta are practicing Naxos; an alien martial art that is a cross between gymnastics and kung fu, and is done in zero gravity. It is also a special day for Loretta because it is her Naxos exam where she must do an aspirants routine for her judges, Queen Gemma, Professor Rubicon, and Luminix. The key is to pass through the holo-rings without touching them and if she passes, she will earn the Platinum Belt. Loretta starts off really well and gives an excellent performance. But just as she reaches the finish, she slips and touches one of the rings. Loretta fails to earn her Platinum Belt, but the judges are willing to give her second try tomorrow, and if she fails again, she must wait one year before taking the exam again. Afterwards, Loretta is left upset as well as frustrated that she failed her exam. Her family try to assure her that it is nothing to worry about and she will still get another try, but this does not make Loretta feel any better. Because she's never failed before, she has always believed that she can accomplish anything. But after failing her first exam, she no longer feels confident that she will pass the next one. She then sadly leaves the Holo-course, leaving her family, mostly Miles, concerned. Phoebe tells Miles that learning to deal with failure is a big part of Naxos, which is what she found out when she met Master Skellig Ro, the greatest Naxos master in the universe. She reveals to Miles that when she was a T.T.A. cadet, she visited Iridium and studied with him. After hearing all this, Miles suggests that Loretta should go to Iridium and learn with Skellig as well. Phoebe agrees that is a good idea but warns him that learning from Skellig Ro is hard work. She gives Miles permission for him, M.E.R.C., and Loretta to take the Photon Flyer to Iridium, as long as they are back before dinner.

Soon, Miles, Loretta, and M.E.R.C. are on their way to Iridium. Although excited, Loretta is unconfident that she is good enough to learn from Skellig Ro. They soon arrive at Iridium and spot Skellig Ro's castle on a cliff. But when they try to land, a storm suddenly appears, forcing them to turn away. Miles, Loretta, and M.E.R.C. land safely in the forest away from the castle full of thought, because that storm came out of nowhere, as if someone, possibly Skellig Ro, sent it so they would have to find another way to the castle. Miles, Loretta, and M.E.R.C also discover that Iridium has less gravity, making it feel more like zero-gravity. Through the light gravity, Miles, Loretta, and M.E.R.C. bounce and swing from tree to tree to Skellig's castle. As they try to get higher, they are halted by trees that move and refuse to let them pass. Using her Naxos skills, Loretta is able to use the moving trees reflexes to help her bounce from branch to branch and reaches the top. After Miles and M.E.R.C. catch up, they decide to fly the rest of the way. However, as they near the castle yet again, a huge gust of wind blows them away, forcing them to land back into the trees. Both suspect this is Skellig Ro's doing and now they have to figure out another way to reach the castle. The wind continues to blow, and at the rate its going, it will be impossible to reach the castle as they'll get blown away, which gives Loretta an idea. Instead of fighting the wind head on, they decide to use it to go diagonally. Using M.E.R.C.'s wings as sails, they catch the wind and begin to sail away from the castle. Doing a Naxos plank move, Miles and Loretta are able to steer M.E.R.C. through the wind and successfully reach the castle.

Upon their arrival, they meet Skellig Ro, who greets them and congratulates them for reaching his castle. Loretta steps forward and asks to learn Naxos from him, but Skellig Ro tells her there is nothing to teach her, as the journey they took to find him showed them all they need, especially for Loretta. She learned that even though she failed, she still got up and moved on. That failure was also good for her, because it inspired her to come to Iridium and had to practice what she learnt in Naxos in order to find Skellig. Skellig also tells Miles, Loretta, and M.E.R.C. that they can go through the forest again to get to the Photon Flyer, but there is also a shortcut. Skellig reveals that the shortcut has always been there, and says that you need to learn where to look. The next day, a more confident Loretta takes on her second exam and successfully passes without touching a single holo-ring, earning her Platinum Belt. The Callistos congratulate Loretta, and when M.E.R.C. touches a ring, Miles tells him that Callistos always bounce back.
