Roanne L. Mann is the chief magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She was appointed to the court in 1994 and her current term expired in 2018.[1]
Education
Judge Mann graduated with a B.A. degree from Yale College in 1972 and received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School in 1975.[1]
Professional career
After law school, Ms. Mann joined the Appeals Bureau in the New York County District Attorney's Office. She then worked as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. In 1977, she became a special assistant to the assistant attorney general in charge of the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. The following year, she joined the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. In 1986, she became counsel to the law firm Stein, Zauderer, Ellenhorn, Frischer & Sharp. She became a partner of the firm the following year and worked in this capacity until her 1994 judicial appointment.[1]

Mann was appointed as a federal magistrate judge in 1994 and her current term expired in 2018.[1]
